Great photos thanks. Only remember seeing a complete Beverley once, and that was the Southend example when it had been moved across the road after the museum closed down.

Thats an interesting link James. Have to say this is a new one on me and appears to be a great concept. What became of the design. Did it ever progress to production?

Personally I think aviation museums are the perfect venue for an Aerojumble; my last two visits to Brooklands only happened because of the Aerojumbles there. As has been said many of the facilities that have to be provided on a bare-field-site are already in place at a museum and it never hurts to get more punters through the doors. I also feel that my (often long and expensive) journey hasn’t been wasted even if I buy nothing.

Have to agree with that. Like all aerojumbles i visit i went with money to spend in the hope of finding ‘another needle from the haystack’. And although there were a few nice pieces in the end i didn’t buy anything. BUT having the museum already there on site meant that for me it wasn’t a day totally wasted.!

I flew with George Cull in G-AOIR from Eaton Bray to Old Warden in 1981, the same day that the B-26 Invader crashed.

Just for clarity if you mean the Biggin Hill Invader it was 1980.

Thanks for that PaulHP. Had never really noticed before the P51’s bottom right on the neighbouring Litlington village sign!

The Bump – You could be right as i found it on wiki, although it said at SM.

Wellington285 – Didn’t know about the Crown pub and its displays either, thanks Ian. Sounds like one or two good reasons for a visit!

Here are a couple Rob, the window is in the near by church and the village sign i had to include.

Thanks for those Steve. Have obviously seen the village sign before but the church window is new to me.. and very impressive!

As i recall the farm buildings have been used for 355th vet reunions before. A fitting use in my opinion.

Just found this lovely pic of a 355th P51 apparently at SM. Also can anyone confirm that the memorial propeller is genuine and not a replica?

Thanks James, but you bad boy. There’s a big sign saying ‘PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB UP THE BANKING’.

PanzerJohn – Yes the aeroboot was a bit light but was about what i expected so was still a good day out. A very nice wooden single blade, superb carved model of the enormous Saro Princess flying boat, a nice although somewhat overpriced (in my opinion) Vampire fin and a Chipmunk instrument panel were to be found, and of course an original Spitfire control grip :).

What do you call nose art when it is on the rudder? I just hope that she is facing the right way for the purists:

There is probably only one way most ‘purists’ would like her to face ;).
