Or what about Duxford’s Lanc?
Brian, i may have missed it somewhere but why did the Nimrod come back dismantled on a trailer?
Wow thats a fantastic replica… the worn looking paint makes it look almost original ;). Nice find.
Yes i remember that, 1987 i believe.?! I was under the impression that it was entered to see ‘what it would make’, and i would of thought that highest bid was pretty respectable considering its rather unfashionable appeal to the warbird fraternity.
Thanks Wyvernfan.
AFAIK she won’t be made to run, RR had a squint at the engine and basically said ‘don’t do it’. That’s what I was told anyway. Electrics work though, and yes she’s had a repaint. Put a pic up now she’s out and easier to photograph, was awkward when I last went, as she was well hemmed in in the hangar.
Oh ******, thats a shame. Obviously the years of standing outside uncovered at Sandtoft have taken their toll. Never quite knew why she was grounded after the 1988 airshow season. Owner Neil Moffatt must of had his reasons i guess. But at least, hopefully, we will have XL500 on the airshow circuit at some stage to look forward to.
Anyway judging by the pic its hats off to the YAM for looking after her now.
David do you have a link for their site?
Nice pics B2. I notice that the front prop is back on the Gannet AEW.3, and that she looks to have had a repaint. Do you know if YAM are any further forward in getting her back into ground running condition as was originally planned?
🙂
It was’nt me govnor…. honest. :p

Photo titled ‘tailpiece from’ also Balliol?
I can see where your coming from Stuart… but the Balliol tailplane would attach straight onto the ‘cone’, unless the attachment points are on the opposite side to that shown.
Those ears do make me smile… they are massive :).

Unfortunately i’m working Monday :(, but hope some of you pick up some good bargains.
Blimey hats off to JT for keeping that early 707 flying… it looks superb in that livery.
He was probably thinking ‘cor wish i could fly like that’. 🙂
