….and i believe bought along his three cockpits on two or three different trailers in convoy. Now thats what i call dedication.!
Can i also add that like everyone else i spoke to on the saturday, Tony C was very approachable and down to earth.. and not only was he interested in my project but was also very keen to talk about what plans he had for getting his cockpits under permanent cover. Good luck.!

Hey come on guys… if it keeps the old girl active and helps promote our historic aviation then i’m happy for her to display anywhere. And after all we have had i believe a very close relationship with our dutch friends since WW2. 🙂

Thanks for the positve comments from some. They are appreciated. I realise though that as a team we do not tick all of the boxes from an enthusiasts point of view – not historic, military or unusual type.

But you are fun, entertaining and different.. thats good enough for me ;).

I’m hoping to get to Kemble on the sunday (with one eye on the weather).. and looking forward to seeing some early jets. Just out of curiosity does anyone know if there are usually any aeroboot stalls here as this will be my first visit.?!

I’m sure i heard the late great Stefan Karwowski (spelling?) say when talking about displaying the Bearcat that at display power it burns about 80 gallons an hour (or equivalent). Thats just over 1.3 gallons per minute.. does that sound right.?

Moving to the USA at the end of this year.

So its true is it? Well i for one shall certainly miss it. And it will also bring to an end, hopefully temporarily, the glorious days of private jets at Dx.. now that Mark Hanna is also no more and very sadly missed. As much as i love the pistons, the old jets just appeal to me that little bit more.!

Thanks Twinotter.. yes it was nice to meet you too.!

Shame about the runway, having such a good length of available concrete but not being able to use it must be quite frustrating. Don’t know why but i always thought the Shack flew in ala Dx’s example… bet that must have taken up a few lorry loads.!

Lovely pics Brian.. especially the last one of Sally B. Take away the guard rails and that could pass as 65 years ago.!
Incidentally is Old Crow the SHF Mussie.?

It was good to meet you on saturday, did i mention i have a windscreen thought to be from a Wyvern?,……how was Stafford on sunday ?

Yes it was nice to bump into someone that in a way i already knew.. small world. No there was no mention of the windscreen so please let me have any details you have whether on here or by PM.
As for stafford… well it was ok.. just. Taking into account that Cosford was on just up the road, and that it was a lovely sunny day i should’nt complain too much.!

    Hi all,
just to add my two pence worth it was an excellent saturday on my first visit to Cockpitfest.. and my first return to Newark for some 19 years:eek:. So good talking to all i managed to get too, although i cannot remember some of your names :o, but nonetheless you are all a great bunch of guys.
Interesting side note… as soon as i said ‘got anything for the Wyvern mate’, the instant reply came back ‘ahh you must be wyvernfan’.!:D
