Wow thanks for that. Yes serious money indeed. I knew some agricultural tractor prices were going through the roof but I hadn’t realised it was the same for DB VIG’s !

Very smart looking tug there.

Personally I’ve always fancied owning a David Brown VIG aircraft tug from the 1950s to run around on like this one, although I think they’re a bit beyond my budget now!

Totally agree with Judwin regarding the book “Adventure with Fate” by Harald Penrose, an excellent read in my opinion, plus it was that very same book that first fuelled my interest in the Wyvern all those years ago!

Totally agree Bruce. As others have said Brunty would of been a better place (although with no free hangar space I believe), and an airport is not necessarily the place for a ex RAF V-bomber – although the example at Southend seems to be doing alright!

Nice to see the Delphin and Auster at Duxford.

Incidentally is that forum member The Blue Max in the second Auster pic?

Sounds fair enough to me, and presumably then landing at Finningley for a final time?

Always knew this time would come eventually, and she’s (it) had a good innings! Now if I can see and hear her in the air just one more time this year then I’ll be happy.

Duxford Tuesday 12th May:

And the B-29 is looking lovelier every day:

Pleasing similarities between the black fuselage pattern on the B-29 and the clouds (maybe as you would expect).
Lovely photo!

No worries Pete. The props are RA10274 which i think are unique to the Sturgeon. I do incidentally have two complete props blades – front airscrew but minus their ruberloid coating. They were found in a house in Malta in the seventies by an RAF techie, and having taken a fancy to them had them flown home stowed on a Vulcan. He did also mention a third damaged blade that didn’t make the trip back but I don’t think there was any sign of the contra prop assembly. But you never know!

Would love to see a photo if you have one DC?

Tim – cheers Mate. Any progress on the Martinet that you can share?

Cheers David.

Yes the Wyvern certainly had a roomy cockpit, but I’m curious to know if any other aircraft type shared the same blind flying panel layout with this gyro compass, as I’ve not seen any!

Next step when time permits is to set about fitting these in the mock-up.
