I fully appreciate your remarks as to them being slightly the underdog and that the other companies’ types have taken most of the limelight, but as Auster played a large part in the postwar GA market hopefully as the type is now gaining interest it hopefully wont be forgotten.

Also very important in WW2, a fascinating company and also a lot of local interest for me, Leicestershire County Council have a few interesting types in storage which they would display if they could, may arrange to see them in storage though

Nice one Brian! Is that the real thing, or a replica? I guess the latter – if so bet they had fun building it, though I somehow doubt that there were many volunteers for a test flight!

It’s a replica built on a real jeep, looks the part though!

Prefer the rotary Whirlwinds to the WW2 example myself – I know what you mean though, i’ve yet to see a long-nose Whirlwind (HAR.9, HAR.10 etc) in good condition, apart from the RAF museum’s one and the airworthy one in Ireland, despite so many of them remaining.

One has to wonder how much time they spent peering into each other’s drawing offices… Bar the tail, they could almost be the same aircraft!

Good job you posted those pics – nearly posted the pics from Janes Combat aircraft of WW2 asking what was the difference!

If you ask me it’s political correctness gone mad – banning re-enactors from walking around with Bren guns, tommy guns etc is pointless, what the government needs to do is to stop the black market trade in guns (ie Nottingham)
