Ah right, cheers for clearing that one up! Been wondering what happened to it. I believe the AGT will also try to obtain examples of British Airborne weapons and vehicles etc for the museum as well, would be very interesting.
Theres also a Hamilcar (mostly complete) at the Museum of Army Flying, and a similar section to the Tank Museum one at the Museum of Army Transport, although since that closed i don’t know where its gone. I hope the guys at AGT will build a Hamilcar, would be cool.
The website is really good, can’t wait to see the Horsa, Hadrian and Dakota when they’re done, will be great for wherever they go (Probably Cosford)
Dogfighting would probably be seen as too risky to use multi million (probably nearer billion by now) aircraft and the highly trained aircrew – even though it’s what they’re designed to do.
Dogfighting, to me, counts as twisty – turny, trying to get on each others tail etc, so using missiles would count to me as dogfighting, long range missiles wouldn’t count though.
Yeah it would be nice, when i first saw Friday the 13th i thought she was a full scale model, and in my eyes she still doesn’t seem to be a ‘proper’ Halifax, not sure why. Apparently restoring the RAFM Halifax would cost too much, a shame really, but still it’s better than nothing!
Yep it would appear they are a thing of the past, as for the last dogfight i would have imagined it would be the Falklands, unless someone knows otherwise
Not sure if your aware of it, but theres already a complete Halifax in England – Halifax B.III ‘Friday the Thirteenth’ at Yorkshire Air Museum, made of different Halifaxes, it’s a fantastic rebuild. Theres also the complete wreckage of one (as far as i’m aware, main parts missing are undercarriage and perspex, and bent prop blades) at the RAF Museum Hendon sitting on it’s belly
Edit – the Yorkshire Air Museum is a mark II, as is the Hendon example – however the Hendon is the early variant with a turret at the front. There are photos of the YAM Halibag here;

And heres one of the Hendon example
First of all, anything bad happening to my mates or anyone else i care about
Second, heights! I’m fine in an aircraft, but if i lean out the window on the first floor of my house at the front, with nothing underneath, it really shakes me up! Not sure why, guess i feel safer in an aircraft than on my own feet!

Ah great the newsletters working now. Does anyone know anything about Guiseppe Lombardi? I’ve heard his name before for something else…. can’t remember what though
Duxfords restored Swordfish was shown on bbc local news just now,what did surprise me was that they stated it was only 1 of 2 left in the world,i thought the RNHF had at least 2.It was’nt a statement of “flyable” swordfish or particular marks of Swordfish.
Never trust the media to get historical facts right – a remember seeing a photo of a Hurricane on the BBC website, stating that it was the only one left! (or at least the only airworthy one left!)
Ah, it’s a Sukhoi! Most of these Russian types look the same to me, look fine though. I hope someone gets the chance to photograph either types when they are airworthy, would be really good if they displayed at an airshow.
Very interesting, especially the MIG. Is that the one supposed to be flying before too long? Will be great to see a Buccaneer fly as well!
Gone over their bandwith now so will have to wait to read it – can’t wait though, fantastic project, are they just going for the forward fuselage like the Dutch group of the whole big beauty?
Meh, seems like a lot of effort…. good luck to whoever buys it though!
