Just out of interest, did the Mk V see service in the Battle of Britain? I always thought they entered service in 1941 or late 1940 but i read somewhere that they were in the B of B, doubt it though.
Ahh i remember now, do you mean the circles on the rear fuselage, like the Mysterons?
Captain Scarlet? Sorry, confused the heck out of me!
Nice shot, is one of those DC3’s on it’s belly? The silvery looking one furthest away from the Shack looks like it’s on its belly
Never seen one, but i’ve definitely felt a presence of something other-worldly, like at the control tower at East Kirby (and that was before i was a proper enthusiast and heard the rumours about it there), i think my brother must have felt it too as i said too him ‘come on lets go’ and he just replied ‘yeah’ really quick and pretty much legged it down the stairs!
I’d hate to see a ghost, just thinking about seeing one when it’s dark scares the hell out of me

Yep i was referring to the one in ‘Thunderball’. I remember reading about the Germans experimenting with one in WW2, although it could have just been another blueprint design that never got past prototype stage, if that, like the Horten HO IX etc.
I know us Brits experimented with them in the 50’s/60’s, but the idea has been around for decades before i think
Welcome to the forum, i might be able to go to MAM tomorrow (been wanting to for a couple of weeks), hope i can so i can see ‘your’ Hunter, wanted to see her repainted for a long time.
That’s what i was thinking, just like other British WW2 Propoganda posters. The Gibraltar theory seems to have hit the nail on the head then.
For historic aircraft, i’d say either a jet thats been in service for a long time, or recently phased out (i.e. B52, Jaguar e.t.c.) or a civilian aircraft that hasn’t been in service for a while (such as the HS Trident)
Have fun you guys, sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a show, if only it was in two years time instead…
Very interesting, how come the MoD still has/had it, ground instructional airframe? Would make a nice exhibit for a museum.
Very nice, lovely airliner the Trident
