Over here, the Vomit Comet is the Nimrod, because of course it’s based on the Comet and because of the tight turns everyone chucks up! The times i was on them all the aircrew were throwing up, even the air cadets, except me who was sitting there admiring the view and drinking a nice cup of tea!

Also, i believe the Chinook is known as a Wokka in RAF Service, and Tonka for the Tornado, probably because it resembles a Tonka toy?

I think the Hurricane was also referred to as the Hurribus, not sure on that one though

I meant the wartime ones, the same thing happened at local aerodromes. It’s a shame so many die in training accidents, thankfully that doesn’t happen anymore, at least not often.

Cheers. Still, they already have one tail dragger Shack there. Must pop along to one of their open days if i get the chance, i’d love a ride in a Twin Pin!

Sadly, it was most probably due to the aircraft they were using. OTU units were given old, clapped out aircraft, which often crashed due to mechanical failure e.t.c.

Are Air Atlantique still planning on bringing her back? The tail dragger Shacks look fantastic.

Cheers for the pics, still annoyed that i wasn’t able to go. Were any airborne jeeps e.t.c. there? Can’t wait to go next time. I’m not sure but i think they might be planning to build more gliders after this, a Hamilcar would be very nice!

Oh, almost forgot. I used to be an Air Cadet too, getting too fly was fantastic, the only time i’ve been in an aircraft and not actually flown it was in the two Nimrods, that was great! Apart from that, the Air Cadets actually dampened down my aviation spirit, but since i left it’s been growing even more!
