Looks like the Museum of Army Flying has joined forces with the catering department to make an interesting museum – the Museum of Army Frying!

I think dropping the atomic bombs was very neccessary. My dad used to know someone that was in a POW camp during the war, after the war, whenever he saw a Japanese car he used to spit on it!

The Valiant is definitely joining the Vulcan and Victor at Cosford for the Cold War exhibition, as for moving the Liberator to Hendon its the first i’ve heard of it, although it would make sense as it will fill the gap left by the Valiant in the bomber command hall. The hangars at Cosford are going to look rather empty with all the cold war aircraft going into the new exhibition hangar

They would most likely have space in one of the other hangars for the Horsa and/or Dakota after the Cold War exhibition has been built, would make a good sight – two Dakotas in RAF colours with a Horsa glider (and Hadrian in the future). I’m going to the open day in September so i’ll get some pics of the aircraft if anyones interested

Sorry, actually its a Lancashire Aircraft Company Prospector, and its a composite of several airframes

Very nice, cheers! XM819 is a Lincolnshire Prospector, intended as a replacement for the Auster but helicopters were used instead. As far as i know, only the Hotspur glider (one hanging from the ceiling) is a replica, the other gliders are either original, or, in the case of one of the Horsa fuselages and the Hamilcar (huge glider) composites of various pieces of gliders.

Are you sure? Could swear i saw wings and tail on it, seperated from the fuselage but by the aircraft, maybe they’ve moved them.

Love mossies, especially the fighter bombers. Anyone know how far the DH Museum example is from being complete?

Cool didn’t know Sywell had a Vampire T.11, love the things! Try contacting Midlands Air Museum, they have a Vampire T.11 in their ‘graveyard’, doesn’t look like their going to restore it, appears complete though

Really? When i was a cadet there was barely any aviation or shooting, fun things like that. If anything it put me off joining the RAF but i still want to (i think)

Yeah i have, funniest was one that hasn’t liked me for ages (i called him a woman beater when he started slagging off some of my lady friends for the gross act of sitting down), one day decided to make a gun shape with his hand, point it at me and go ‘bang’. I had a rubber pellet gun which i bought from the poundshop earlier that day tucked into my trousers at the time, when i pulled it out and shot him the look on his face was priceless, i think he may have actually crapped himself, boy i bet he felt stupid when he realised i shot him with a bright orange rubber dart 😀

noisy air cadets are the bane of my life, I work a lot of night shifts and they wake me up with their shenanigans all the time. Quite why somebody would go through the rigours of being in the military without being paid a decent wage for it is beyond my comprehension.

Don’t happen to be aircrew on Nimrods do you? Chances are i’ve met you back in 2003
