    Didn’t know there was anything over the other side! I’ve never been over the other side and people probably wouldn’t know about the stuff being over there. Are there any aircraft or something like that in the hangar? Might have a look tomorrow if i get the chance. Personally i think they look fine in Hangar 3, theres a bit of everything in each of the WWI hangars, hangar 5 restoration, hangar 4 battle of britain display and hangar 3 boats e.t.c.

    The boats are way too small for the thames and wouldn’t be able to appreciate them properly. The RNLI Lifeboat ‘Jesse Lumb’ played a key role in Air-Sea rescue during WW2, especially the Battle of Britain, but the others aren’t that badly needed. However i think it makes the place better, a place for every interest, land, sea and air so it has to be unique in that.

    When is the memorial flypast? Im off to Duxford tomorrow, would love the site of two P51’s and Sally B taking off

    So how long do you all think that it will take to restore the East Fortune Beaufighter to a reasonable non-flying state. Your estimates in man – years assuming a fully trained airframe engineer – and bearing in mind that there are losts of parts missing and damaged

    Probably one hell of a long time, especially now they’re putting all the emphasis on the Concorde now

    Nah it’s a Viking, got confused! Would make a pretty good building, i know that all of those aircraft you list apart from the Viking and the Bac 1-11 are grouped together already, maybe they’ll just build a big shed over them

    The Beech 18 used in one of them, think it might be Octopussy, is preserved at Bruntingthorpe, someone on the forum is with the group

    On the subject of Varsities, will the colourful example at Cosford get a roof now that many of the larger exhibits from Hangar 1 are moving out, it would be interesting to see it next to the Valetta that they keep hidden away there somewhere.

    Are you sure they have a Valetta? I know Brooklands has both a Varsity and Valetta, thought theres was unique though. Would look great together in Hangar one

    Just out of interest, now that most of the IWM aircraft are going into airspace, what will the other hangars be like? Hopefully they won’t be as crowded, but are there plans to bring stuff in to fill up the space? Theres bound to be quite a lot of empty space. Also, what are the plans for other aircraft such as the Victor and Shackleton? There in very bad condition, can’t believe they’ve been allowed to decay so badly, its the only Victor in non-gulf war camo as well

    Doesn’t look like the Hunters going to be in there. Personally i think thats a good thing, seeing her in one of the hangars (Probably hangar four with the other jets) is much preferable than crammed in with the other aircraft. I think she served at Duxford as well, so keeping her in a hangar is putting her in her natural habitat, shes also the most beautiful hunter in preservation if you ask me

    Lucky you! By the way, when she had her first flight, the photos in flypast showed a horizontal surface, quite small, sticking out of the fuselage just ahead of the cockpit canopy on the starboard side, what was this? On photos i’ve seen of her recently it appears to have been removed, never seen it on a Hurricane before.

    Never noticed that on the Meteor before, very odd! Wasn’t she fitted with another engine for trials or something like that? By the way, whats the airliner fuselage? Looks like something formerly very beautiful

    Wow, what is it? Looks pretty simple to build, wouldn’t mind having a go myself if i had an airfield nearby and some money
