I think it’s a type of blank ammunition, 7.62mm i believe, where did the shingle come from?

Wow, went Duxford today, and hangar three is pretty empty, so when Airspace opens the place is going to be very empty indeed, as well as hangar 5 and 4! Also, the Lifeboat is looking pretty rough, could do with some conservation, also the Vampire so maybe these will get some time in hangar 5 after the airspace aircraft work is done? Also, in the Airspace plan layout there is a large area with nothing in it by the aircraft, is this where they will conserve/restore aircraft? I heard the Victor was up for conservation, is this true?

Some years ago several of us were helping on one of the aviation art stalls at Plymouth Navy Days where we were doing the book launch of Robert Taylor’s Maritime paintings book. During the afternoon of the third day business was rather quiet as people were watching the various displays going on and we were just sitting in the front of the marquee watching the action.
Various aircraft were displaying, (Sea Harrier, Sea King, etc), but in the distance we could hear the rumbling of something ‘heavy’ approaching. The noise gradually got closer and louder but we could not decide what it might be. We all stared at each other until the curiosity grew too much.
Suddenly we all jumped to our feet and ran outside to investigate and were just in time to see a Naval Rating come around the corner pulling an empty wheelie bin!!!!

Same things happened to me, but it was those ride-on lawnmowers, happened to me at both East Kirby AND Elvington, on my only visits there! Crikey, what are the odds :p

Where else in Duxford are P-51’s based? Only just got back into warbirds e.t.c. since i was younger and back then pretty much any WW2 warbird that was a fighter was based at Duxford to me

Whats happening then? Even though i’ve only ever been to one airshow i still think it’s a great shame Sally B has been grounded, i’ll never forget the day when as a child i heard a huge roar and Sally B came straight over my house, very low!
