Thanks Tim, glad you like the photos. As for the Grahame White Hangar, whilst the Battle of Britain hall is being refurbished it is open all day, apart from during the Easter holidays when it reverts back to it’s normal opening hours of 1000-1200.
What plans were those? I don’t see how it would be possible to roll any of the aircraft used on the displays outside for the weekend – the Sopwith Tabloid replica was pushed part-outside during the Hendon pageant last year and they’ve had a Spitfire from the stores parked outside in the past (and probably will be in the future too)
A couple more

AM Williams with the DH9A – his great-grandfather served in the RFC/RAF on a DH9 Squadron

Curling, Lewis gun style!
Cripes all mighty, look at all this fuss! Like James said, we were only there two days for this whole year so no need to worry if we offend you that much. As for authenticity, I can assure you that those on my display (22 Squadron RFC March 1918 with the Bristol Fighter) were top notch – medal ribbons were evident on the Officers tunic but these were original with the tunic and so to remove them would be like removing original markings on aircraft – removing a part of the history.
I’ll put up my photos later or tomorrow, if they don’t cause too much offence!
Bomber Command Hall I reckons – It’s being finished as a bomber (the opening for the conservation centre at Cosford mentioned the bomb trolley for the Fee)
The space formerly occupied by the Be2 is empty, with the Be2 going on the other side of the doors to where the Battle used to be
And there’s a big photo of an FE2 bomber behind the space occupied by the Be2
Yep, it is the RAFM’s Battle. It was in the Bomber Command Hall post-restoration, but it’s now at Cosford for a few more months because the haulage company damaged it – but they’re paying for the repairs, at least
picture of second uncovered NZ example in Aeroplane this month, parked adjacent to the first one………….
or are we talking about the “secret” RAFM example which appeared on national television last month? :diablo:
Oh, the secret RAFM FE2 that’s going on display in July at Hendon?
Yes, i’m very interested in seeing it – on a journey from Leeds to Leicestershire today via about three WH Smiths I couldn’t locate a copy of Aeroplane, only Flypast! Hopefully have more luck on my way down to Hendon on Friday
Slightly more than obsolete – flying an Eindecker in combat in 1917 (or is it set in late 1916?) would be like taking a banana to a gunfight! Apart from the benefit of the synchronisation gear, they weren’t that impressive an aircraft anyway
Botha without a doubt
Interesting that the logbook was found – I thought they were all handed in to the RAF after the war, and possible destroyed? (Not so sure on the last part though)
As Daz says, definitely Stampe’s. The Currie Wot SE5a’s are much more noticeable because of their small size
I’d be very interested too in reading the biography Brian, Steve is right, not exactly a great wealth of material out there on the ‘Big Ack’
Superb collection, and as the others have said, if only they had some more undercover area!
I was also of the understanding that the CAA didn’t allow the carrying of external stores, for example with the Beech Restorations T-6 which carried external stores in Africa, but that does raise the point as to how come the Shuttleworth Collection’s Hawker Hind is allowed to carry it’s bombs?
Yeah… back to where it started!
