She was flown – very nice article on the trip in one of the general aviation mags (can’t remember which one).
Met the owner at Leicester once and saw him display it at Baxterley twice, it was based just a few miles from my home
It’s currently in storage at Snibston discovery park, owned by Leicestershire County Council, with two Auster’s and a Taylorcraft Plus C/2
Aircraft were BE2s and BE12s, Sopwith 11/2 Strutters and Pups.
FE2’S as well
As for the Bessoneau, I believe it had been acquired by a certain person in New Zealand
Nice photos – I can see the modern day factory on the site from my present location (well, in daylight!)
Personally, I rather enjoyed the spectacle of the Daily Wail standing up for the Poles – I don’t suppose that happens all that often!:diablo:
Adrian
You should see the comments on the Daily Mail website by readers – anyone that’s criticised the BNP and/or mentioned that the UK does need migrant workers because they’ll do jobs the British wouldn’t touch, had their comment voted down rapidly!
More than just one i’d imagine – I once had a supply teacher whose grandfather, a black Jamaican, flew Lancaster’s
There’s the story of a Jamaican Lanc pilot here http://www.mgtrust.org/car2.htm
One of the Taylorcraft Plus C’s, impressed into service and used during the Battle of France, is in storage with the Science Museum in Leicestershire, owned by Leicestershire County Council with four other Auster’s and the Reid & Sigrist Desford RS4
😀 Brilliant.
Correct. That link was intended for students and should return to them in the future, but in a passworded section of the website. (Apparently…)
Never told me about it!
Nice to see a Meteor back at Brunty… couldn’t be a more suitable location for one, especially as it’s where Whittle took his first flight in a jet, taking (without authorisation) a Meteor F1 for a quick joy ride!
Indeed it is
Cotteswold, what camera were you using back then? As well as a modern digital, i’m also using a 1917-19 model Kodak no 2, which was made up until about 1926, using 120mm film

Thanks for the photo Robbo – it’ll be a good day when the Fe2b, Dolphin, LVG and Maurice Farman are complete and on public display though
Actually, my fear is they’ll put it in the Bomber Command hall, in the spot where the Be2 used to be (the Be2 is now in the Battle’s old spot) – there’s a large photo on the wall behind of an Fe2b, so maybe
