Just got back, attached are some photos I took of the airliners – the Viscount was being worked on, the guy on the wing was using what looked like a gas axe and then started whacking the wing joint with a hammer, and there was a crane like vehicle above the Viscount’s left tail fin so i’m guessing that’s to be dismantled next. No activity around the VC10 and BAC 1-11 yet, they were just on display like normal next to the Belfast. Sorry Jetstream Man, no sign of the Argosy, the RAF Jetstream was between hangar one and the RAF hangar for some reason

I’ve got a copy of the 1949 RAF Fire Manual which includes a colour chart for the colours of aircraft wires/tubing etc, could scan that and post it in if it’s any use
The Duxford Sunderland used to be a resturant/disco or something like that
Last time I was there (two years ago) the Argosy was on the airfield, but i’ll try and get as close as possible and get a pic for you if I can
I’ll be going over to Cosford tomorrow morning, hopefully the Valiant will still be outside, anyone want any pics getting of anything?
Cheers for the pics – is the museum having a shuffle around like the last time the Mossie 35 was outside, or is it permanently positioned there with the Mossie FB.VI fuselage half in half out? Might try and go this week if the weather’s any good
Just a thought, but would many people be interested in it? Was thinking maybe if someone made an offer of a fiver or something, and no one else was interested in buying the Jag, then would they be the owner of the Jag and then be able to just donate it to the museum?
Info on the 50 Squadron Manchester on which Leslie Manser died is here http://www.lostbombers.co.uk/bomber.php?id=10035 – the three aircraft on the ground are either Re8’s or Be2’s, i’m not much of an expert, (I think the top two are of an Re8 and the bottom left is of a Be2) – the bottom right one is a Hawker biplane of some sort, a Hind, Hart or Audax at a guess
Edit – info on the same website for Lancaster KB768 here http://www.lostbombers.co.uk/bomber.php?id=2895
Cheers, Rob
Just had a break and caught the end of this film, the Dak, I couldn’t identify, but the DH Dragon Rapide was VH-UTJ, is it still flying in Oz, perhaps JDK will enlighten us as to it’s fate, when he wakes up of course.
Wow I was right, it WAS a Dragonfly, see this page about her http://www.airwaysmuseum.com/Connellan%20DH90%20Dragonfly%20VH-UTJ.htm
Still can’t decide whether the Dragonfly or the Dragon Rapide is the more attractive aircraft
Saw it as well, I thought the aircraft that took them to Wellstown or whatever it is was a Dragonfly? Thought it was a Dragon Rapide but on the ground after landing it looked like a Dragonfly to me, with a more pointed nose and fewer windows, there was definitely a Dragon Rapide after the Dakota landed though
Cheers, can’t find the Revell kit, but i’ve been told the Frog one was an 88 squadron machine, so probably a Boston III/A20C, the same as the Revell version, so might get that. The 1/48 Italeri one is very tempting, even though it’s a different scale from my other kits and also I don’t think I can fit it anywhere, looks very nice though
I still want to see The Last Drop…. straight to video but lots of Horsa/airborne action – Rob and I were talking about it on forum a while ago – out July I think – Billy Zane and Monoplane An-2 (!) notwithstanding!

TT
Wow forgot about that, will be looking out for it – it’s on amazon as a region 1 dvd, so unless you have a multi-region dvd player or one from the USA, you’re a bit stuck, hope they release it on region 2.
Edit – oops spoke to soon, found the region 2 dvd, you’re right, out 10th July http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000EOTT5O/qid=1148575435/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl/026-5235793-4897210
There’s been rumours flying around for ages on movie forums that i’ve seen about Peter Jackson making a WW1 movie, would make sense with the hardware he owns, although whether this happens is anyones guess, would be good though (no doubt if he did, those Brisfits would be in it)
Excellent cheers – looks like a great movie, I think the guy running along a Zeppelin is pushing it a bit though!
Hmm, won’t let me see either trailer, I found the direct links to the video on the IMDB page for it but comes up as ‘service unavailable’.
