Wow looking great, might try and get over there on Tuesday as i’ve only got one lesson at college. Good to hear about it being positioned to make it more photogenic, first time i’ve ever heard of a museum making an exhibit MORE easy to photograph!
A 1930s Fairey design.
The ‘2’ in TSR2 stood for Mach 2, not second version
Which evolved into the Fairy Swordfish (or was that the TSR.II?), TSR stood for Torpedo Spotter Reconnaissance
Anyone else notice Ronnie Corbett flying a Zero? 😉
Had a few good ones already – ‘downtown London’ for example, and did you know Russia was in the war by mid-1940? The four blade cannon armed Spit’s can be excused, but they certainly manage to get thrown about the sky very easily!
You mean like this? http://home.hetnet.nl/~jp1508/pictures-2/hurel-dubois.jpg interesting looking aircraft, always find it odd to see civilian aircraft with glazed noses
Don’t know who else feels the same way, but personally I wish they’d left the Battle of Britain hall as it was. The show is interesting, but it could have easily been done as a small presentation on a large tv screen somewhere else, or at least have the lights properly on like they used to be, always thought it had a better atmosphere in there before they included the finest hour show.
I spy with my little eye a Bolingbroke – hope he get’s that beauty airworthy before too long!
The Lancaster fuselage at Sandtoft, i’m guessing
Looks good, will try and get over there soon – do you know how the other developments at the aeropark, ie nissen hut, Vampire T11 etc are coming along?
Excellent news, i’m glad he’s directing it – and they’re keeping the original theme music!
I’ve heard of them, but it doesn’t mention anything different about the aircraft, the only details it gives are that the aircraft was called Phartzac, flown by 1st Leutenant Norman H Scott and in the 350th Bomb Squadron
Blenheim is my favourite, the Mk IV especially – although they were considered obsolete, they were widely used by the RAF to fight back against the German’s in the darkest days of the war, and there is no doubt as to the bravery of the crews (after an attack on ships, one squadron was known as the ‘Suicide Squadron’ by the escorting fighters).
That poor, poor Boston *faints*
..and no we’re not going to re-enact it in Leicestershire! 😮
Are you sure? There’s that ‘Bubbles n Babes’ topless car wash near me, i’m sure they’d be willing! (Actually, got a good idea for an XH558 money raising photo shoot 😀 )
Great website, have to echo Darren Harbar’s comments about the Hawker’s – beautiful aircraft, can’t wait to see them flying, or even just static. And a flying Dh.9 😮 that’ll be a beautiful sight
