Oops, hang on i’ll edit it in a sec – just uploaded a video I took on my camera, not exactly great quality and it shows the props moving a lot slower than they were, unfortunately. The link is http://media.putfile.com/Lancaster-84
Nice pics, cheers – what’s with the lack of wings on several aircraft though? The Dakota I understand because that’s going into the Cold War building, but as far as I know the Anson and Auster T7 aren’t :S Will try and go to Cosford soon to see the airliners before they’re chopped up. Do they still have the mobile dentistry unit there?
Not this one, it’s AE436 of 455 Squadron, recovered from Tsatsa, Sweden where it force landed in 1942, the Hunt Brothers have one from Russia though, more information on the East Kirby one here http://hem.passagen.se/laurimaa/tsatsa_eng.htm
Damn I missed the two Spit’s flying, saw them parked outside. Were you at the gates near the BBMF visitors car park when the Dakota landed at about half twelvish? (Not sure of exact time)
Apparently the Sub is the one they used for U571 but they modified the exterior, shame really, when I saw the photo I was hoping there was an ex-RN WW2 sub around somewhere
There it is, more impressive than I thought it would be!
Back to Blenheim’s (well, Bolingbrokes to be precise), had an e-mail today from the IWM – the IWM plan to restore their Bolly at a future date, and at the moment it’s described as being in storage and won’t go into AirSpace for the opening, so whether this means they’ll later add it into AirSpace or not I don’t know, looking at the plan for it it looks as if it’ll be pretty jam packed already
Excellent, got my Flight of the Blenheim DVD this morning, great stuff!
I know that there is/was a helicopter sunk – not preserved I’m afraid – in a gravel pit in Leicestershire as a target for divers. Is that a Wessex? Anybody know? At the novice depths there was an ex BMA Viscount cockpit.
Yeah that’s a wessex, it’s at Stoney Cove along with the Viscount nose and a cessna/piper similar light aircraft
Three at East Midlands Aeropark, Manston have one, Fleet air arm museum have at least one, could be more in store, RAFM Hendon has one in Queens Flight colours and of course the Helicopter Museum have a few. South Yorkshire Air Museum has one as well
Oh, another one for the ugly club has to be that Polish? jet biplane crop duster thingy.
Nah, I think it’s really cute actually
Cheers, looks like the RS.3 and the RS.4 are the same aircraft then – same really, was hoping the RS.3 and the RS.4 were still around, the Desford is a very nice looking aircraft. Does anyone know anything about the RS.2, or was it an aircraft that just didn’t get further than the drawing board? Looking at G-INFO, only two Reid and Sigrist were ever registered, the Snargasher and Desford/Bobsleigh
Wow that Proctuka looks pretty good actually, how come they didn’t use them, because of the poor handling? Could swear I saw them described somewhere as Prentices used, looks like I was wrong though
Looks to me like they’ve tried to build airspace on some very soft ground
