By the way, about Snibston – just found an old e-mail, they have an Auster J4, a Taylorcraft Plus C and the Reid and Sigrist Desford in storage, if anyones interested I could give you the e-mail address of who e-mailed me back, they could probably arrange a viewing of them or something (might do myself in the easter holidays)
Yeah it’s the same colour as the F1 cars and the XKR in ‘Die Another Day’, probably the worst Bond film ever! XK’s have to be among my favourite cars Roger but I wouldn’t say looking good in any colour, the solid red ones look like an airfix kit gone wrong! The link is to a pic of the Die Another Day XKR

Don’t know if it’s true or not (probably just a rumour, or it’s been used by loads of lads), but i’ve heard of a bloke going up to a woman in a bar and going ‘how do you like your eggs in the morning’, to which the girl replies ‘unfertilised, now ******* off!’

Apparently it’s for some sort of Jaguar cars event their having at Brunty, it’s in ‘Jaguar Green’, only seen it on a couple of Jag XK8’s before and doesn’t look too nice
Yeah she’s in store at Snibston Discovery Park, Coalville, with a couple of Austers – I was told that ideally they would put them on display but they have no space to, a shame really, the aircraft owned by the council that are on display is the Kings cup air race winner hanging from a roof in a Loughborough Museum, an AOP9 hanging from the roof at Snibston, and the prototype J1 at Newark Air Museum
Fingers crossed i’ll be going to East Kirby this week or next, so i’ll try and get some pics for you of it there. How much is left of the one at East Kirby? I’ve heard it described as either just the forward fuselage, or the entire fuselage, however don’t they have at least one side of the wing as well? (Think it’s the starboard one)
Looks like there keeping some of the most interesting exhibits in storage then – nice to see the Bolingbroke with a Bristol Mercury attached, does it have both of them on?
All I want is……more time!
Time to spend with the family,
Time to go to all the shows I never seem to get to,
Time to help out at the Classic Flight,
Time to read all the books I want to read,
Time to help other people with their projects, blenhiem ,Brunty Lightnings, TT with the Texan and Beech.
Its no good I will just have to win the Lottery!
Alan.
Ps Notice I didn’t mention work, what a waste of a persons time!
Not the only one, ideally i’d love to help out at Bruntingthorpe and with the Blenheim but not having a car makes it pretty difficult at the moment!
TT’s your man i’d have thought (at least I think he’s a solicitor)
Maybe one day when I’ve got the money i’d love to buy one of the Bolingbrokes in Canada, but until then i’d be happy with any bits of Blenheim’s to keep me going till then
I’d also like a sizeable portion of an aircraft, preferably the cockpit area, to work on, ideally something from WW2 but not fussy
Is this the one in a leisure centre hall somewhere in Leicestershire? Remember going once and being not really finding anything of interest, overheard someone holding a bent pipe saying to someone else it’ll be useful for a friends Tempest project though
Not sure if you’ve seen it before, but the top picture on this website http://www.fentonphotography.co.uk/harchy.html is the remains of a WW2 radar mast on Bard Hill, perhaps it’s the same one the Lanc hit?
You’re keen? I’ve worked out how to use my dads surround sound speakers just for this DVD!
Blenheim L8875 landed at Brussels on 30th April 1940, turns out the pilot, flying over the base, saw Fairey Battle’s (of the Belgian air force) so assumed he was over an RAF base in France, obviously turned out that they weren’t and the crew were interned
