Just a thought, on Septics’s third pic with the engine in front of the Typhoon cockpit – are they suggesting something or just teasing us? Not too good on engines so can’t tell if that’s the correct engine, also it’s obviously been moved from Hangar 4 for something

Forgot to mention – it’ll also be difficult to just view it as well, from one side of Airspace you’ll have the Canberra, Canuck, Whirlwind and Dove in the way of it (by the way you’ll have a hard job getting a good luck at the Canuck as well, and the Jaguar and Harrier), and on the other side the Lysander, Tiger Moth and Re8!

Oops, sorry for some reason I read ‘restorers’ as volunteers, well done to them all anyway they’ve done a grand job of them all, it’s great seeing the aircraft in new schemes or just repainted for Airspace

Better enjoy the Oxford while you can – in Airspace she’ll be hung up near the centre of the hangar away from any of the walkways (unless they build an overhead one down the middle) and the Vulcan right under it so it’ll be rather difficult to get pics of her when she’s strung up

I was told or read that it’s been dropped from the plans for airspace (tried looking for it on the forum but couldn’t find it, must have been in a PM from someone that i’ve deleted), and that also the restoration of it has been put on hold for a while. Also, on the IWM Airspace website the Bolingbroke isn’t listed or on the hangar tour bit with the other aircraft

For anyone interested in the other Blenheim/Bolingbrokes around the UK, got an e-mail today from the Museum of Flight, East Lothian about their Bolingbroke 9940 – it’s a long term project worked on one day a week, it won’t be finished for several years apparently as although externally it looks like a Bolingbroke, internally it needs a lot of work. Also, it will most probably be in yellow as a CATP aircraft when complete.

Also I asked where they’d house it as there isn’t much room in other hangars, and also what was happening with the Concorde hangar, and I was told that they are currently deciding a long-term development plan.

By the way, has anyone else heard anything about the IWM decision not to include the Bolingbroke in Airspace?

Can’t help you out with sizes, but as for the reason the Superfortress carried the same amount of bombs as a Lanc is probably for range. Of course, the lighter the plane is, the further it can go, and when the B29 was introduced they had to operate from airfields on islands in the Pacific, quite some distance away from Japan

Not sure, I read somewhere that quite a few of the RAFM aircraft were little more than painted hulks (was on this forum I think).

Blenheim wise, there is a website for Blenheim (Duxford) Ltd, it’s http://www.blenheim-duxford.org but at the moment there’s nothing really on the website. Next year is the 70th anniversary of the Blenheim, does anyone have any ideas how the anniversary can be recognised? I’ll pass on any ideas.

What’s wrong with the Blenheim at Hendon? When I went, from what I could see it seemed alright but then again couldn’t see that much of the interior, is it an empty shell like the Beaufighter they have? Be even nicer if they turned the lights up a bit in there (wonder if my e-mail about turning the lights up went down well, still haven’t got a reply)

I now think the Meteor F4 is the Tangmere one actually, judging by the painted over rear canopy, looking on the Tangmere museum website it seems to have that whereas the Midland Air Museum one is clear

Which one? Two that I know of, both Bf109G’s, one started flying again on 2nd September 2005, the second one, Black Two, is being repaired and should fly in 2006

    P40b here http://www.warbirdphotos.net/aviapix/Fighters/P40/p40b.jpg

And I guess your ‘normal’ P40 would look like this

Biggest visible difference to me would be the size of the air intake under the engine

Either that or the theory that the world leaders are, in fact, lizards. If it will change the course of this disussion, why not start another thread about it?
