Mmm nice, anyone know if it’s gone to the USA yet?
Carolyn Grace’s Spit? Funny, I heard the Concorde group were supplying one free of charge
As far as I know, the Boston that was on ebay was a variant not used by the RAF (with a covered nose and machine guns right at the front of the nose, the A20G), i’ve only seen photos of the Boston with the glazed nose and machine guns in fairings on the side of the nose.
Would love to see a Boston in the RAF Museum, when I went the other day there was a fair bit of space where the Valiant was, only thing in the space was the Buccaneer and that only took up about 1/3 of the space from what I remember, more than enough space for a tricyle undercarriage medium bomber i’d say :p
Apparently if the BBC gets about a thousand queries for something to be put on dvd they’ll do it, so maybe if we all send off an e-mail? I’ll send one off in a bit
Cheers, was definitely Night Flight though, the pictures on the Christopher Plummer website made me sure of that. Does anyone know much about Night Flight, for example i’d be interested to know where they got the Thornycroft Amazon lorry with the crane on the back (could swear I saw it in the background of one scene, possibly lifting something up near the Lancaster in front of the hangar?)
I’d like to see it as a sticky too if not too many people object, it’s an interesting and useful thread (By the way, if your in a society that owns an aircraft, does that count too?)
Cheers, compared to the pic on this page http://www.sywellaerodrome.co.uk/museum.html i’d say it’s an up-engined version probably modified at Duxford for pulling larger aircraft about, can TT provide us with any more info on the Mercury bomb tractor?
The Fairchild Argus looks like the Sibson one (i’m 99.9% certain it is). What is the tractor towing the T33? Looks like a modernised version of the Mercury bomb tractor like the one at the Sywell museum
Wow beautiful, my two favourite single engined fighters – Spitfire Mk II and the Hurricane Mk I! Nice website as well, what do you have planned next?
I think this is a better forum, where the users are far more
mature and professional, most displaying good ethics
and etiquette.I last took part in the “Missiles and Munitions” subforum of
Modern Military Aviation where some of the users can best
be described at downright childish, immature, cynical, sarcastic
and pathetic, not to mention very poor literacy in English.I was very shocked indeed to find out that one of those who
attacked me was actually a moderator ! This is the first time
I have come across in any forum of any kind that the moderator
has behaved in such a repugnant and biased way. And he was
the one who accused me of biasness rather – evidently he was an
American who could not stand people from other countries
giving valid opinions of the weaknesses of some of their air-to-air
missile systems – he could not possibly believe that their weapons
were inferior to those from other countries, particularly Russia.I’ve actually sent a complaint to the management of Key Publishing
Ltd for allowing such behaviour by their moderators (even a
moderator of the forum of an x-rated website does not behave
this way) – and Key Publishing is a very professional international
aviation magazine publisher of high repute and standards.I also happened to communicate with Carlo Kopp, a lecturer in
Monash University and very well-informed authority on air
defence and electronic warfare. He mentioned that he was well
aware that his articles and write-ups had been attacked by the
same “extremists” mentioned above.I think I shall stick to Historic Aviation in future, when I have
time to take part.
It’s posts like these that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Last time I was there there were three Buccs, one in FAA grey and the other two in RAF grey/green wraparound camo
A few here if there any use
Clicking on the pics might throw up a few more on the pages as well
Ah excellent cheers that’s the one
Just a quick question, when’s the latest you can apply for the job and what qualifications or experience do you need? I’d love to get involved with aviation as a job but i’m in sixth form at the moment and don’t have transport yet although I could probably borrow the money for a car or something
Really? Better shop than Hendons? Personally I found it the other way round, never been able to find something I like in the Cosford shop but at Hendon i’ve never had enough money to buy the stuff I want, then again haven’t been Cosford for about two years
