Very nice, the engines sound great! Where are the 109’s from? By the way, do the documentarys just feature the planes flying about etc without narrative, and occasional music? Wish all documentarys were about that, or at least part of them were

Yeah I think so – the whole of the skydiving centre temporary buildings were burnt down, seemed to be a really selective arson attack as only those buildings were burnt down, however whoever did it removed the gas cylinders from around the building. Nice little airfield though, hopefully going to do another jump there in the future, well after my ears have stopped hurting anyway

True, there great vehicles, got a model one somewhere i’m due to build. Don’t know much about hangars, but did T2 hangars come in different sizes? Looked way smaller than the one at Duxford and Elvington. There was also a similar hangar fenced off near the DUKW, don’t know whats in there.

Apparently the DUKW was for sale in Scotland a couple of years ago, a DUKW restorer told me, so i’m guessing it’s now under restoration, would love to see it going around Rutland Water though!

Man that was excellent, was scared as hell when going up in the plane, then when the door was opened and watched the two guys going before me jump right out of the plane scared me sh**less! Falling was the worst bit, then it was absolutely excellent, when the parachute was pulled my hearing went funny but still was really good, even the descent with the parachute was fun circling around. Should get the DVD on about Thursday as the camera has to be taken home to be put onto disc because the computers were destroyed. Only got this photo my mate took of me after I got back, pretty much sums it up though 😆

Cheers to everyone for your support and sponsoring me, definitely doing it again sometime!

Argh off to do the skydive in 45 minutes, should take about an hour and a half to drive there (probably an hour knowing my mates driving), then who knows how long until the jump. Cheers to everyone that’s supported and sponsored me.

The skydive is still on, only have one phone line working at the parachute centre though, no computers, fax machines etc

Well was running across a three lane road that came off a ring-road to get to the car park with my mates, lost my footing whilst running over an island (the road was completley clear), and whilst running halfway across the road my left leg gave way and next thing I knew i was sitting in the middle of a three lane road with my mates on one side of the road p***ing themselves laughing, with me basically dragging myself across the pavement in case any cars were coming!

Old John is the building on top of the hill, that is a tower and an arch, that looks like a Beer tankard – and it’s supposed to. Old John worked for the guy that owned the land back in the 19th Century. There was a big bonfire on top of the hill and Old John was killed by a big log (think it crushed him, not sure). Old John liked his drink so as a tribute, the land owner had the folly built, in the shape of a Beer Tankard, as a memorial to him.

Edit – some more info here http://www.follies.btinternet.co.uk/leic.html

And this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_John which seems to contradict my theory, but who knows!

Yeah but apparently the NNR are repainting it in BR Green which really suits them. Better make sure I don’t end up on the railway line, not sure if being hit by a train would get compensation from the insurance policy my mum paid for me to take out!

Very nice, haven’t been up there in ages, good to see ‘Old John’ still standing proud
