They were also fitted to Blenheims, Hampdens and Hurricanes. Many must have been recycled as obsolete.

Thanks Beaufighter. Considering the number of aircraft this style of smiths gauge was fitted to there don’t seem to be many appearing for sale.

Thanks for the tip. Will be interested to see what it goes for, though probably not to me! I’m trying to keep spending under control, and failing.

Thanks Bruce, no 300 number anywhere but looks sufficiently good to brave the glowing paint.

Very nice selection. The Wessex grip looks so much more business like than it needs to. I love the flip up covers. Here are a couple more, Scimitar and Seaking.

Something for the left handed pilot? Could be a helicopter collective grip.

Interesting Anon, is the rest of the Trash City instalation stored up there to? There were at least two Gazelle pods, a Wessex, a 747 engine (I think) and lots of appealing looking bits and pieces. It’s a very impressive corner of the festival.

This one isn’t exactly ‘preserved’ but has been at Glastonbury for the last couple of years. They sealed the windows to prevent any pilfering last year. The yokes had gone already before I got inside.

Thanks Peter, that’s brilliant. Very odd Lanc though, it has the same autopilot controls as a B17?

Thanks Peter and Paul, I’d trawled through a lot of photos but failed to find a pic. The A crown M rather than broad arrow made me think earlier but that is very helpful. Cheers.

The casting is the rocker cover from a radial engine cylnder, couldn’t say which engine though.

I saw a bit of B17 while clearing my loft which looked similar. On closer inspection I might be misleading you, same colour, slightly different shape.

Don’t think its Halifax, looks like wing structure from a B17.
