Very nice! Two flap levers out of one Spitfire, We’ll be finding two sticks on a Stuka next. My camera and your shed need to meet up.
Have you seen Ivor Jones’ Airfields and Landing grounds of Wales? Some good contemporary pictures in them.
Not as historic but here are a couple more. Puma and Skyship Blimp.
Very impressive collection! Do you know the purpose of the shroud on the first grip? It looks a very big just to hold a button.
The Air Forces Memorial, Runnymede is a good place to start:
http://www.cwgc.org/search/cemetery_reports.aspx?cemetery=109600&mode=1
It lists over 20,000 of the missing. Until I checked the link I didn’t realise just how many names were recorded. Appalling.
I’d love to know how much the grips go for as well. Have you identified yours? I could send you a higher res Master picture if you want.
Some very desirable items there. The Pucara instrument panel is very interesting.
That was quite a thread, Air Ministry. Nice to see the drawings of the mount. The Lanc was a BI, Vickers Aircraft Castle Bromwich Manufacture and serving with 15 Sqn. No idea of the group.
Thanks Peter, from what I was told the arrangement was simply a .5 Browning firing through the hatch towards the rear, a similar system to that used on Dambuster ED825G.
Looking for something else in a terrible filing system I found these two pics. From the late Peter Foote collection labelled Aylesbury 11/10/58. Serials visible WV629 and EJ660. Looks like a few Lanc bits as well.
You offer an excellent service Bruce, I’ll be off to the post office Monday to pick up that last button thanks.
I’m astonished!
Yes, Javelin stick. The trigger/ safety linkage is rather beautiful. It’s the same on Vampire and Hunter sticks. It only takes a couple of clicks and confirmed pacifists are shooting down imaginary adversaries: No I don’t want a go on a helicopter one, give me one with guns! Ju88 columns are very impressive, I think it’s a clock in the center though.
Is it a wheel out of a bomb selector box? Will look in the loft and spin the wheels to see if any match.
It does look the same basic pattern, Pagen. Javelin is almost identical as well. The Scimitar has a much more basic trim switch, none of the fancy ribbed stainless. Looking for Tony’s fancy German yoke I came acros this page. Practically pornography.
