I’m saving myself for Newark the following Saturday. It’s a long old drive from Wales.
Thanks Ross, Philippa had the correct pilot but the wrong crew in R3881. Peterstone is on the edge of the river Severn. Had the remains of the aircraft fallen on water, the crew would most likely have been missing.
Interesting mix up Ross. I’ve not heard of a Blenheim coming down near Cardiff. Do you have a date for it? Air Britain has the same info as the first post. R3881’s crash site has been lost to quarrying at the summit of Titterstone Clee Hill. A few pieces were collected by the farmer at the time and remained in his barn until the farm was cleared for renovation. My aunt called by at the moment they were being disposed of, along with parts of a nearby B-17 loss.
It looks like the front seat stick had a much better diet! A cracking pair, as Sid James used to say.
Absolutely GYD! A large model beckons…
Thanks Swifter, very reasonable.
That sets the yoke off a treat. Very nice.
Try flight helmet.com. They have similar hiding in their parts section. A site with lots to tempt but breathtaking prices.
That is a very impressive bit of F-4. So many switches and boxes. Quite a base for a throttle box.
Thanks Bob, probably staying as it is for now. Unless another big lump of CG-4 comes my way.
Very impressive! Looks good with the plastic front. The lettering sets it off well.
Thanks Fouga, the panel is full now. I’m lucky I have a laser engraver to play with at work for the base.
CG-4 Panel
Thanks to Batur of this forum, an empty Waco CG-4 panel. A very easy panel to fill. The labels are plastic, so the acrylic bumper should hopefully stop me snapping off the left hand label in a clumsy moment. Coming from the States, this one is unlikely to have been in action in Europe. Apparently they were sought after as surplus after the war due to the quality of wood in the packing crates.
Thanks FLY.BUY. Interesting to see what’s inside that big box. Never had the courage to take mine apart…
Thanks for the I’d, wondered what it was!
