The grip is the same as an early Thunderjet, but they had a longer column. One of the early Navy types? Lost in Google and nowhere nearer.
That’s a useful acquisition, GYD. Your US bomber collection is growing. I’m waiting for the customs bill for an F-18 colum. From etsy of all places. Thanks for the links, Flyby, some stuff I’d not seen. Lovely photos AM. I’m having problems posting, need to resize images.
Air Ministry, you spoil us.
A very rare one, Swifter. How about a pair of B17 yokes, with throttles, pedals formation stick and a lot of repro bits. Will need a big box: 263090228613 on ebay.com.
Umpteenth time lucky. Must be the file size. A stolen pic of the grip display at Cockpit Fest. US Navy themed.
Nice find, FLY.BUY! Are there many stalls at Bruntingthorpe. Another reason to visit on a noisy jet day… Those mag alloy grips have come up a treat, Tony. Looked very unpromising at the fest. I’ve tried to post pics in a variety of ways recently but have failed.
Photo 4, wood/resin looks to have a 20mm Hispano feed roller on the left, Brian. Bottom right on the the engine parts looks like sump. Can’t really help with anything else.
Two people with more money than sense.
Far from boring, a downright exciting selection. Can’t help with a block 10. Would love a transducer box for my block 15.
Allouette helicopter. A benchmark of ugliness and overpriced with it.
Properly jealous Tony! That Dagger/Dart grip is something I’m sadly lacking. Impressive finish with the bead blasting on the ‘fest acquisitions. I wish I’d thought of the ‘relic as hanger’ idea. I’ve got the internals of a MkIX grip which would display better like that.
It’s come up much better than the listing showed, John. Good cleaning! The ebay description said a very vague ‘untested’ so no grounds for a refund unfortunately. I’ve got some black buttons but no red. You’re looking for Otto push switches on the net. The trigger is a ****** to find, I’m after a couple myself. RRvintageaero on ebay has had them in the past but wants silly money and double that for postage. If you’re feeling brave, the trigger can be removed for cleaning by tapping out the pivot pin (left to right viewed from the front) You’ll need to make a note of how the trigger cover spring sits, and don’t remove it over shagpile! On the previous query, I believe the early, Vietnam era AH-1Gs had the round topped buttons, but can’t find a picture to prove it.
According to a Facebook group it is being unveiled shortly. There was a single photo of a hoodless shape under polythene. Can’t remember the date, think it was this month: https://en-gb.facebook.com/DumfriesAviationMuseum/
I didn’t take nearly enough photos of an excellent but Sooo hot weekend. Thanks to the organisers for doing such a splendid job under such taxing conditions. An unusual highlight was a bit of show and tell action on the grip and yoke display stand. We were treated to a very interesting Victor yoke with a dedicated RATO switch (Thanks Jon) and a real Falklands veteran Pucara grip. A pleasure to see, difficult to hand back… Will post pics when I’m back from work, won’t let me here.
From Aviationetc on ebay? Nice grip. The grip and single trigger suggest AH-1G but the buttons are later so could easily be from a J. I don’t have a manual for that model but there are plenty online to check.
