Hello Swifter, the P38 yoke was a serious acquisition! What did it look like under the paint and did it still have the ‘bomb’ button attached? I fear there are a lot more grips around than triggers. I’ve been hoping to find one at a local site where Mustangs were broken up after the war. So far only a fragment of grip. I will continue to search when the rain eases off here. Possibly August!
Bas, this Polish site might be worth a try. This sold recently and has found it’s way into an F3 project: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281873242141?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT.
Finally, I’ve bought a Huey sight control grip from Israel. The tracking shows it having a better holiday than I will ever take! Bets on where next? Hopefully London Heathrow…

Nice link! The bibliography photo at the end covers quite a few of the references on my shelf, and I’m sure several others. ‘Cockpits of the Cold War’ is near pornography.
No UK postage unfortunately, but just out of it’s packaging: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WWII-Aircraft-control-Yoke-DC-3/172042188206?_trksid=p2046732.c100040.m2060&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107095009%26meid%3Dddf802db73774f74baddaf55b30a0323%26pid%3D100040%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D281868026896
An absolute work of art!
Not Stirling either, based on the previous excellent identifying. Could be a challenge!
Black and white photos aren’t much help with this! As far as wartime yokes go, I would suggest ‘cockpit’ green if not black plastic coated. The attached of a 1940 Blenheim yoke in Norway suggests so. https://ktsorens.tihlde.org/flyvrak/lysvollhaugen.html.
That’s come up a treat, Rob! A very solid lump with more than a hint of Vampire.
Thanks for posting. Would be interested to to thumb through a copy, especially the stick and yoke pages!
Very impressive! Very big too. It must take some lifting.
That’s a very generous offer, Nick. I may well be in contact! Even simple items like instrument clamps often won’t ship. Homeland security is taken very seriously.
The right hand rockers look Jumo.
Well said, Runway06 and Tony. A quick flick though ‘Cockpits’ and ‘Cockpits of the Cold War’ by Nijboer and Patterson show some museum cockpits with very wrong grips, for example a P40 with electric trim control hat (wrong) and an F8 Crusader with a Bronco grip apparently stuck on with putty. This original He111 also raises some yoke issues:http://falkeeins.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/heinkel-he-111-walkaround-bomb-bay.html
Regarding Army Air Corps grips, there were some differences, notably ‘Canon’ in big letters on top of the P39 grip. Always good to have opinons though, even from under a bridge.
Nice work on the MGFF satnd, Brian. Yours broke in the same place as mine.Did you see the complete unit on the ebay thread?
No idea what it is but the font looks American. I have similar from an Allison engined Mustang.

A similar stick was discussed in a previous thread. Probably pre war, certainly not P40.
I think it may well be Lysander. Measurements taken when the Junkers bits were being looked at matched published Lysander diameter.
