This ebay seller in the states had a lot of cockpit bits, including several panels which are now over here (3 at least) and one in Canada: yutz_pilot . Lots of different versions represented. I got an empty F86F-35 panel which is now nearly full. Instruments are cheap if you’re careful! What have you got? Huge variations in fit.
Very much the inside of a Wellington.
The doors just got half an hour earlier for traders. I’ll be getting up before I’ve gone to bed!
yes, with the ergonomically placed gun button for when the pilot is hiding behind the dashboard!
Thanks Richard, the Lanc photo is there on the site.
Hello Bas, and another welcome to the forum. I can’t add much to what Martyn has said, other than I have an identical Tornado F3 grip to yours, with the same part numbers embossed on the top. This has a stores label to ZE201, which is indeed a Tornado F3. There is a Tornado GR4 column and grip on ebay at the moment (third or fourth from the same vendor) item number 391280399648. He wants more than £300 for it!
Your B8 does seem a bit early for a Corsair, Tony. Have you tried translating the text? It’s beyond my Classical Studies ‘O’ level. It seems a very uncomfortable place to put instructions, especially as some F86s had a big ‘how to eject from this plane’ label on the top of the dashboard coaming.
Very nice Fiat Column, Herbert. B8 grips are so similar it is nice to have one attributable to a particular type. A later Bucc grip is something I’m sadly missing, will send you a PM!
Just a hint out of the corner of my mouth, Anon. Free is always the best, and especially satisfying when tracked down.
More than jealous! Exactly what I’ve been hoping for with little success so far. A Sunday trip to the Vale of Glamorgan beckons. Well done!
The gloss painted black strappy bits in the middle are parts of the landing light mechanism from the wing. I had a similar piece from a local L serial Spit for many years with no idea of id. The eureaka moment happened at the excellent museum at Sleap in Shropshire, where they had a complete landing light unit on display. I took a photo which I now, inevitably, can’t find. Very impressive progress with your project!
It was missing a trigger, too.
Excellent news! Did they do the 3D scanning with your Kate? Seems to be the future, with guaranteed accuracy. I’ve nearly finished their F86. It almost fell together. Time to settle down with an Airfix kit and a vinyl record on the turntable. The past is the new future…
Definitely not an He111 rudder balance, Hurri109. Denis is right. It would be large curved piece of cast iron. The He111 elevator balance weights are simply a bar mounted in the leading edges. You have two Me110 rudder or elevator balance weights, one unfortunately with label saying it’s something else.
From a very tiny aircraft piloted by a very small man?
Here’s a section from a wartime Ju88 recognition poster. The bottles a horizontal and close together, not exactly conclusive but worth checking further
Sorry Adrian, should learn to work smileys! No offence meant.
