Submerging in fresh water for ‘a long time’ seems the most popular, otherwise the salt will suddenly reduce much of the aluminium to powder.
If you clean around the domed tops of the bottles there will be manufacture dates. It would help with id. Luftwaffe oxy bottles changed design mid to late war, from cylindrical to balls! A very nice gift!
Could be Freeman Field in the USA. They are currently digging up quite a bit of Axis and British wreckage there.
Wrong type of yoke for the Harlech P38.
Nice! I wonder how much it will fetch?
That’s looking very impressive!
That Ju88 yoke caught my attention right up until google translate said ‘replica’! Can’t see the point in a grip that isn’t real. Even an un flown grip was made for a purpose. That said, they’ve done a lovely job! on a similar track, model kg13: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261990020302?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT There are also Mirage and F16 grip kits out there.
I’ve got a Domine yoke but might be persuaded to part with the DC4 yoke and cap one day!
Thanks Rob, never seen a Wyvern stick but will let you know if I do. I’ve got the 4+ book so have some idea what to look for.
Bunsen Honeydew, I also remember the post but can’t find it. Wasn’t there a catastrophic forum crash a few years ago which lost things?
Lovely work, Nick. Is that a newly cast trim switch on the left handle or one from the spares box? Nice to represent such an unusual aircraft, and odd where these things turn up! Having run out of acrylic for the laser cutter, I’ve been experimenting with engraving directly into wood. An expensive Cornish holiday means releasing another from the collection! A recent addition is this Sea Hawk stick, currently being incorporated into a cockpit rig.
All well worth a visit, the Sunderland museum especially. I’ m hoping to visit Spitfire corner during my current Cornwall holiday.
More random high ground wreckage being tarted up with new histories. Annoying having been involved with several of the recoveries and can guarantee the parts are not what they claim. Contacted the vendor and they are ‘from a large collection he bought’. Not his fault, oh no,although he did take one listing down. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ww2-raf-relics-/271945960632?hash=item3f513e0cb8
Superb work, thanks for posting. Looks like it was found in a farm yard?
I think they are the middles of parachute flares, not bits of mosquito.
That’s a big lump of Voodoo Peter. Is the racking rigid enough to hold everything together or will it need extra boxing in? The Sea Hawk side consoles just have holes so can be screwed down easily into wood for layout testing.
Joe, what’s the panel off? Might help with sizes!
More holes have been filled in the Sabre panel, and other bits laid out. A more age appropriate stick grip is on the way (thanks Brian!) but the rudder pedal is feeling lonely. Anyone have a spare, they’re not handed (footed?). The throttle is also for an earlier model but looks too good not to include.
Lovely video, thanks for posting!
