topcoat for IR supression
this was supposed to be the russians reply to the b2, that never happened it was called “Project 202”
it was never called 202, later being totally different and older program
another prototype model apparently shown to Medvedev
this is in-house TsAGI DMS-LK study for long-haul BWB airliner under ‘Airplane-2020’ program.
has nothing to do with PAK DA
mix of old/new projects and internet speculations with real projects that has no connection to PAK DA you put here obviously creates an information white noise that will make my security dept smile like fat cats
That’s the best pic I have ever seen of the FSW MiG_23 design….. (bottom right)
Obviously a wind-tunnel model, but interesting nonetheless.
Ken
Ken, this is not ‘FSW MiG-23’ but so-called ‘thematic (reference) model’ dubbed Ritm (Rhytm) and made by TsAGI, not any of contractors
there are much more more quality shots of it appeared on the web after TsAGI jubelee open house
Did it look like Moskalyov’s DSB-LK?
No.
yep. just 20 years after RR put their stuff on test bench and successfully tested
it was not RR problem with swiveling nozzle, but death of AVS program
do you think that Yakovlev and Soyuz didn’t study RR papers and patents while making own stuff?
if Soyuz was studying such a nozzle in late 60s and UK has lifted its own Yak-141 in late 80s, now some would be claiming that RR has stolen Soyuz design, huh
it’s official, ca. 92-93
one of many Yak-41 development studies, preceeding Article 201 aka Yak-43. last one is still classified.
LM probably learned from the swivelling nozzle.
RR did know enough of such nozzles way before R-79.
Yes, he just flew two years in future- from 2003 to 2005, and saw the movie. Those guys at LMSW are not your ordinary artists, you know.
It’s well known fact that Talon design was inspired by patented NG concept that some call Switchblade, and NG was consulting movie prop team.
This is ten years old LMSW rendering of supersonic FSA concept, first appearing on public in JDW article in June 2003.
That photo looking into the Pak-Fa inlet which had people screaming “No S-Ducts” ?
Darn, no. It was isometric technical drawing.
Jo, I’m repeating it for probably tenth time – blocker design for T-50 is not a myth, it was even shown shortly afterwards maiden flight (and removed from the certain forum very fast), and someone I know has big troubles because of that. Moreover, it fits earlier 2nd MoD Research Institute research works I saw back in early 90s and current patent application description. So why to search complicated alternative to simple device if we have obvious proof that it’s planned on PAK FA?
Jo, you are making too far protruding assumptions from a couple of words in interview and patents. Cold section consists of, say, vanes, too…using MS-21 tech in Izd.30 doesn’t obligatory means PMC blades for its compressor, and some patent issued to Minpromtorg absolutely doesn’t mean practical implication. Talks of 2D nozzle or variable cycle for Stage 2 engine that I see in interviews of Saturn executives may be just wishful thinking at the end.
You’re wrong about the “RAM covered duct walls” too.
Sure.

Those partially exposed crescent shaped inlets when seen from the front. You posted in secretprojects around 2011.
Blockers are just not shown here. Everything that retracts back from blades, is entrapped by blocker backyard and RAM-covered duct walls. Moreover, compressor blades, engine nose cone are covered with RPM too, because they have characteristic greyish color on ‘live’ 117 photos.
