    Jack Brown,
one of the best display’s I saw was at Milldenhall in the early 90s. Jack was down to fly TFCs P47. As an engineer with TFC at the time I went to Milldenhall as ground crew for the weekend. Jack was due to depart of his slot and go to Southend for another display so was well topped off with fuel. As He straped in, he asked what sort of display would you like to see, I just said, “the normal, and don’t bend it, whats the chance of a dirty pass” I’ll see how it goes say’s Jack. As he took off I never gave it a second thought, but to my pleasure the 47 goes well out over the far side drops the gear and flaps and give the croud a great view of a dirty low and slow P47, Great to see. A lot of cameras where clicking away then.
Jack is a great bloke, we had some good shows. Jack has no need to stand up and tell every one who he is, he lets his flying do it for him.
It was good to see him again at the weekend. He’s a good mate and a fine pilot.

A call before you go, to check on what the facilities are available, might prevent heart ache on arrival, not just for Duxford, but anywhere else, if they are getting enough phone requests and do not have the facilities, they may just think of implementing them, if they are losing business by not having them.

So what your saying its my fault for not checking with Duxford , and So you think it’s ok for one of the Largest airshows in the Uk, not to supply a marquee for ex veterans, Only the ones with Gold or Platinum tickets. Well I’m sorry I dont agree with this and or did the members of staff I spoke to and helped me out, I think Duxford should honour all members of the R.A.F. I have spent the last 12 years helping old squadron members and I appreciate what theses men did for us and I would expect Duxford to do the same.
    Cheers Rob…..[/QUOTE]

    Here Here.

I will just say, the people on the gates of the gold / platinum pass enclosures where in no position to say Yeh or not to entry. it all comes from above.

It only saves money if you were to buy Flypast every month from a newsagent….

I stopped buying it ages ago.

Hats off to the powers that be at DX for offering the punters a reduction for the October show, Well done, good move.

But please get a decent commentary team.

I’m surprised that nobody’s mentioned the bloody awful commentators. For many of the people I spoke to and overheard, the constant droning conversation between these two blokes took the shine off the show more than the less than ideal weather conditions. Far too much chat and too many failed jokes and not enough engine noise.

I’m tempted to take a set of wire cutters to the next show.

£23 is really pushing the limits on what you can get away with for a show like this. It was a long way short of Legends and shouldn’t really be priced in the same league.

    Just my humble opinion.

Give me ashout next time, I’ll lend you a pair.

The prices at Duxford have already made me stop going, before i even started! The price is way too high, i’d rather go to a smaller show for a fraction of the price and see some of the aircraft i want, and actually get close to them as well.

I have to admit I almost lost it with some punters at DX today.

I tried very hard to explain that as a private owner I dont have anything to do with the costings of entry to live side / food stalls etc.

They then proceded to give me verble regarding the above, in the end i told them I agreed, it is bloody expensive, but it’s no use complaining to me as I “still” don’t work for DX.

I think DX should look at the cost of entry to live side £5.00 on top of entry pluss god knows how much for that filth the stalls call food is causing a lot of bad feeling.

To be honest, Im pised off at being moaned at due to the above..

    Opinions please.

Lovely aircraft, glad to hear Duxfords Hastings will be undercover before too long as well (i believe)

    It needs more than going undercover, it needs a refurb.;

    Too true.

Looks too expensive for the published list.

So now, to get a decent position, your have to pay another five pounds! 😡
Might give it a miss – would be the first time for 15 years.

What’s it like at the Land Warfare – any enclosures?

No Cranberry or 109 either. 🙁

I’ve found someone who agrees with me on the content of the display,
this is the sort of thing that gives airdisplays a bad name.

As for Landwarfare end I can’t say, I work for one of the private owners. I should think it’s quite good though. Mind you get there early, you dont want to upset anybody by encroaching on a “Pre-booked grass sod” HAA HAA.

Try a family of 6 with four adults and two OAPs… 😮

The fun goes out of the day does’nt it, very quickly. If the keep on upping prices at this rate, the average punnter will get pissed off very quickly. I overheard some people today as I was putting the aeroplane away, one of them said “There’s no way I’m going out threr this time, they can shove it” I did have to tell him, it’s no use moaning at me, I work for a private owner not the museum, he said sorry and then told me he couldn’t find anybody from the museum, so I pointed him towards the HQ building at the main gate.

takes the **** really, family of 4 has a bloody expensive day out, or perhaps the powers that be think families don’t want to go on the flight line walk.

Well find a tractor and get going then perhaps the engineers have better things to do than pamper to the wishes of people whose only purpose in life seems to be to moan about why aircraft can’t be put in this position or that position just for the sake of a photo.

Can you move the sun please, its not quite in the right position…….
