I’d like to continue the conversation back to my questions about the j-31
on first glance it looks like a reasonable airplane, but a few people here seem very unimpressed with it.

claims it’ll be a better air superiority fighter than the j-20 which is more focused on long range strike

i don’t know how they came to the conclusion the j-20 is a long range strike aircraft. it seems to be an interceptor.
the j-31 has poor engine performance to be an air superiority fighter. its a heavier mig-29 with the same engines.

I would go with the J-31, much cheaper and enough for Kazakhstan, PAK-FA can fly further and has bigger radar, may be even more agility but will be expensive, and you won’t be able to afford many of them. Quantity has quality of its own.

probably cheaper and enough. in fact I don’t think Kazakhstan needs 5th gen fighters. probably needs more bombers and patrol aircraft to deal with its terrorism problems.

but the j-31 is horrible because it has no range, and kazakhstan is a big country.

If you have to twist into knots trying to justify doctoring your methodology, like you just did the last few posts, I’m not sure I’m the one who has trouble backing their claims.

First you claim 23 meters. Then, stretching out pixels for the J-20 and chopping pixels for the J-15, the best you can get is under 22 meters. Apparently stretching fudge factors to their limits and falling short is enough to justify being right all along. I believe that’s called making up facts to fit your conclusions.

I also don’t have to lean on an imaginary “everyone” to make myself sound credible. Plenty of people have done this exercise without cherry picking pixels (when I first did this exercise I even included a margin of error). When you cherry pick pixels and still can’t get the results you want you have a problem. Anyways, you can keep feeding yourself delusional fantasies. Waste of my time to try to talk someone down a tree when they don’t want to leave.

the original comments were directed to Deino’s claims that the J-20 is 18-19 meters. We called bull on that and presented a side by side high res pic
he comes back with a bad, pixelated satellite image saying the j-20 is much shorter. We called bull on that again
we zoomed into the same picture and found the person who originally measured it, did a poor job because he over estimated the radome and tail of the flanker
3 different people said 21-22M which is close to my original claim of 22-23m.. definitely NOT 18-19m like Deino said.
and for some reason, you decided to stick your nose into this conversation that was not directed at you. If anything, it is your own problem

J-31 is a bad airplane

probably has low range because it uses rd-33 or 93s, and no fuel tanks

its been noted to have poor thrust. Chinese aircraft are known to be underpowered which is why they are so long.

some of the members here like deino or lazy guy will want to convince you other wise

but in reality, even the Chinese don’t want it.

it’s a monkey plane given to countries they don’t want to give their best things to. similar to the mbt-2000 and fc-1.
in other words its an intentionally designed 2nd rate plane designed for 2nd rate air forces.

i don’t consider kazakhstan a 2nd rate air force.
