Interesting article regarding French and Russian processes. Russia may need to get its act together with customers service if this article is true

Well Tom Cooper has long mentioned this was one of the issues with Russian products. But India will simply have to deal with it if they want a 5th gen fighter. Their only options is the J-20 operated by their best friend or the F-35, the friend who has a history of sanctions. In that case condescending Russians are the least problematic.

Or they can put all their money and work with Dassault on making a 5th gen fighter. who knows when that will surface.

I have concluded that eyeball aerodynamics only works with very basic designs. From what I can gather, we’re already way beyond the point where we could glean anything useful at all without looking at what the exact pressure distribution over the entire airframe is at any given flight condition.

the problem is some people here have bad eyeballs to begin with. eye ball analysis has told us that the pak-fa has faceted APU inlets, photoshopped fans, s-ducts, facted engines, etc
people can’t even agree on the size.

so China also has ISIS problem. the most efficient government on this planet.

you have to differentiate with between few deranged people and society as whole.

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/03/11/chinese-authorities-say-muslim-uighurs-have-joined-isis/

its a difference of scale. a few dozen from a country of a billion vs several hundred from a country of 17 million.
but this probably doesn’t matter to you since you are a closet ISIS supporter. But some of us see the risk to Russia and actually don’t want the problem to spread there.
I also suggest you follow TR1’s suggestion to stop going off topic.

    With cannon too!

wow upon first glance I thought it was an M-346.
paint schemes really do make a difference.
didn’t even know Belarus operated them.

Russia, Indonesia begin talks on Sukhoi Su-35 deliveries

    http://rbth.co.uk/news/2015/04/07/russia_indonesia_begin_talks_on_sukhoi_su-35_deliveries_45039.html

i never really understood their procurement strategy. i’d like to see su-35 in new colors but their air force is one that collects a little bit of every country.
wouldn’t it be more practical to continue buying more of the su-30s they already have.. and you know.. add weapons to them so they’re not always flying guns only?

    Indonesian AF in 10 years..
    Hawk, TA-50, Su-35, Su-27, Su-30, KFX, F-16?

I think Pakistan may end up dumping the MI-35 option and just going for AH-1Z/Z-10 combo supported by armed Fennecs as scouts.

Pairing a western high end system with more numerous chinese system seems to be par for the course in the Pak Mil

can you clarify.. are they buying these aircraft or is it a competition?

    Maybe try a little maturity?

you are right. i over reacted and forgot that all they had were freedom fighters that can barely carry anything.
more like Somalia went bewm instead of kabooom!

Yes, it’s the same scheme as some Russian Su-30SMs have, nicknamed Baklazhan (aubergine).

can you post a pic? all the ones on google image are the dark grey ones with a white radome

There aren’t many. Only two, actually. KnAAZ Su-30MK2/M2 and IAPO Su-30MKI/MKA or Su-30MKM/SM without Israeli contents.. Other Su-30 versions are commercially dead by now. Picking Su-30MK2 for Kazakhstan would make little sense as this variant does not offer much capability beyond what Kazakh AF already operates (Belarus-upgraded Su-27BM2/UBM2).

good points! but I was also thinking of the broader Flanker family including the Su-34 and 35. is the SM replacing any thing in particular?

Perhaps they should be spending more on helicopters and border defense, seeing how many Kazakhs are joining ISIS. Russia be warned.

an update. looking at what has happened in Pakistan, it seems when possible, the Pakistani’s would prefer a Russian option over a Chinese.

looks like it also has a slightly different paint scheme than their normal flankers. looks like a solid dark blue on top and light on bottom.
wonder what made them choose the su-30sm variant over the jillion others being offered bu Sukhoi.
    they should change their roundels.

so if India dumps russia on fgfa, what alternatives do they have for a 5th gen fighter. there’s only the f-35 or the j-20 for them lol.
could they make one with dassault?
