Its good to hear from people who live near a brilliant Airfield . Thanks for the info Chris yeah I hope it based here but it seems odd that if it was not to be based at Headcorn why did it turn up there? oh yeah forgot about that nice looking Yak-52 ( G-CBMD ) and there are a few french built Tiger Moths Stampe the Let 410 and the Islander Shame the Black Beaver will not be there in the winter:( And The Freshest where abouts do you live?
Did however see a formation of 4 Yak-50/52’s fly in to the aerodrome in a lovely echelon formation.
Did they look like this http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0970960/L/ the Yakolevs team?

It’s parked in our hangar at De Havilland Aviation or it’ll be out the back being prepped for flight… it’s not in the museum at the moment, nor does it belong to the museum. Contrary to popular belief, the museum doesn’t actually own any of the operational aircraft… they simply put a roof over them in return for having them on display. Both the Gnat and Sea Vixen are maintained and operated by De Havilland Aviation.
We are looking at smokebox options.
Most of the old RAFAT Gnats used part of the fuel compartment to store the diesel which used up a lot of fuel room. With the decommissioning of most of the old comms, there’s plenty of room in the body behind seat 2 to put a smoke generation system which will probably be the easier option and more effective option. Just a case of looking at who offers what.
Thank you for info cant wait too see her ,how many operational aircraft are there that are around the museum .And does De Havilland Aviation still own a Gloster Meteor , Cant wait too see her displaying or doing a flypast at Bournemouth in the near future 😎
BTW Is XM692 the Grey Gnat?

Enlighten me, what is BOH ???? I not up to date on the generally accepted airport codes.
Not sure what it is used for, I believe that the BlueBird Cargo 737 is used on the mail/papers run. However the Electra is in the island most days in conjunction with an Atlantic ATP. Both of which were at the airport early this morning when I dropped in to collect a friend of mine.
No problem:cool: BOH is the IATA airport code for Bournemouth Airport (Hurn) They have an Electra that goes and comes from Jersey and an ATP that does the same thing but to Guernsey.

James
