So why didn’t Russia supply S-300 to Iran earlier if they are such great friends?

They didnot supply new IL-76 to China either despite signing the agreement at the time. so?. you have no understanding about industrial production capacities for old and new models. they were renegotiating in 2013 about S300.

China is far less reliable when there are core Israeli/Arab/EU interests involved.

It is not the UN sanction but banking sanctions from EU/US. why almost all money of Iran is spread around those banks or Chinese banks connected to west. and not in Russian banks. despite all this Russia did manage to built the nuclear plant and now selling more advance version of S300.

the problem is China can barely have 1 aircraft carrier with no operational strike fleet on it.
Transport/Tanker/bomber fleet is not optimum. Alot of Chinese relationship with West and Arab world. i am not just pointing to trade. China ability to bomb Middleast is minimum

It will take years if not decades for Iran to get its airforce in shape. it is not worth the money to spend on it for short term.
The more business and money Iran give to Russia. The more decisively Russia will deal with Turks/Arab and at the end with Israel. to the point that these people will have to sell all there assets in West and raise even Oil/Gas prices to fund wars. Think over it. how much Turkey is spending by putting all its troops in Syria border.

China can sell the jf-17 to Iran directly. it doesn’t need Pakistan’s permission as it’s not their design and there’s little they can do about it. China is rapidly expanding links to Iran as we speak and they sold jets to Iran in the past.
With the Russian economy in doubt, military spending decreasing, and Chinese production of domestic engines, it’d be wiser for Iran to buy J-10s and J-31s instead.

Russia military exports are increasing so the quality of military products will be better and tested. Iran simply cant depend on unreliable China as China is too much integrated into West. just look at capital flows.
Plus Russia is gateway to North bypassing Turkey.

This HDI report is joke. http://hdr.undp.org/sites/default/files/2015_human_development_report.pdf
basically raw materials countries like Norway/Australia or some financial like Hong Kong in it. or US that has majority science graduates from overseas.
HDI should mean indigenous development of society not import.
It is not hard to surpass China/Turkey/Brazil when you look at dysfunctional system.

Su-35 have neither the radar blocker or a S shape duct or a canted tail , these are particularly important features to reduce radar cross section , in terms of outer shape , i got to agree with mig-31 that Su-35 and su-27 is quite similar
I dont think anyone actually take the F-15SE serious however the outer structure modification between F-15SE and F-15E still quite significant ( radar blocker , canted tail , internal weapon bays ) compare to the modification between Su-35 and Su-27

why you think radar blocker and S duct important for RCS.
Su-34 has rcs of a cruise missile. and that is 2 decade old development.

    http://defense-update.com/products/s/su-34.htm
It is designed to have a small radar cross section, which, according to simonov, is equivalent to that of a supersonic cruise missile.

Brahmos II is a join program between Russia and India
and it not exactly a compact missiles even though it is smaller than Scud

how do you know Brahmos-2 size. cruise missiles are far more compact, mobile than billistic missiles.

all ballistic missiles dive very steep and there is no way Brahmos will make a S curve maneuver at mach 7 ( and it wont go mach 7 at sea level either ) , what most likely to happen is that after launch Brahmos will climb up and follow a ballistic arcs

dont put your own theories. Brahmos is largest quantity high speed missile in continous production in tri service. tremendous confidence in its abilities. that is in country that can barely put a single test of Israeli joint project Barak airdefence missile after 10 years.

more advanced in what aspect ?

In every aspect. even the export of domestic version is more advanced than the export of customized version.

    http://tass.ru/en/defense/857531
Unlike the Su-30MKI fighter jet, the avionics suite mounted on the Su-30SME aircraft’s version lacks French-made components, the source said.
Russian-made components for the Su-30SME fighter jet’s avionics suite have allowed enhancing the aircraft’s capabilities.

AFAIK , Brahmos-2 is still largely in development stages , arguably even earlier stages compares to LRASM , and while the speed seem impressive for an antiship missiles , it nothing special compares to ballistic missiles like Scud that Iraq used in Gulf war

that is export programme time line for India. which billistic missile has S curves and steep dive manevorability?. Brahmos is land attack missile of Indian army.
cruise missile are more compact and easy to hide and more multi target capability.

domestic is more advanced Zircon missile.

I think most people have put you on ignore list , may be it time to be more mature in your post

My post is most realistic of the capabilities. there are even more ground based EW systems also in the theatre. and balance is of manpower is now decisively in SAA favor. thats why they can afford multiple offensives.

    impossible demand.

Will Obama or Erdoğan blink first?
According to Turkish sources, Erdoğan told Obama that Turkey would stop artillery fire on the YPG, the ground support for the U.S.-led coalition’s air strikes against ISIL and al-Nusra, if the Syrian army, the Russian Air Force and the YPG stopped hitting Syrian opposition forces as agreed in Munich on Feb. 11-12

Let`s get real, 4 Su-35S, 4 Su-30MKI, few Su-34 and bunch of older Syrian Mig-29 with S-400 and few other SAM`s can`t win the fight against Turkey! They can make damage to some degree, but in the long run the numbers are to low for serious resistance, specially when we consider that Russians SAM`s are stationed at one point around the airport. If they don`t have the freedom to change the position, their efficiency is rapidly shrinking.
If we are talking about open war between Russia and Turkey (which will happen sooner or latter), I wouldn`t wanna be a Turkish citizen!

Did you read my link about new datalinks in Su-35 with air to ground function. this practically says SAMs will be controlled from Air.
Older MIG-29 is as effective as new one provided they can communicate with Su-35 and have missiles with newer seekers.
Su-35 superior altitude, jamming, acceleration is force multiplier for the rest of the jets that no one else will need to use radar.
SAA need huge artillery and Smerch support so that can fire bomb all 1000 km Turkish border all the way into Iraq. All Kurds are now practicall in revolt. Iran is sending unlimited organized Afghan militia. there is no shortage of manpower to infiltrate the border.

this is not serious approach to fight. they say 8 of them arrived. either send require quanity with all protection suites or not send at all.

the interviewer is smiling at the end.
those DF-3 are old and highly inaccurate. China retired them. S400 can deal with it.

And of course all our F-35 will be in one base. This is also a concern to me. If there is a surprise attack knocking out the F-35 on the ground, the deterrence effect of the F-35 will suddenly be zero.

The counter-argument is that our intelligence will be so good that nobody will be able to launch a surprise attack. (no, I am not kidding).

The deterreance value is already practically zero if it has to face mobile Brahmos-2/Zircon class missiles in saturated attack. larger industrial capacity mean practically round the clock attack.

The effectivness of AWACS is much less in Syria situation. The A-50U is not upgraded to same extent to bring it 21st century tech like A-100.
Su-35 altitude and engine power gives it much greater range than B-737 class AWACS. 737 is good backup to F-16 but they will likely stay far from border areas.

Su-35S will enjoy altitude ( missiles range ) and radar power over F-16 but it is unlikely that it will be able to attack without warning ,after all it is a big aircraft with big RCS

Su-35 can use datalink from hundreds of kms. The fighter using for radar may not be even in the same area as radar has exceptional range that even AIM-120 can be reliably detected.

    http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Security-Industry/2015/11/25/Updated-communications-systems-for-Chinas-Su-35-fighters/1241448479886/
UIMC officials add the updated communication system features a greater radio bandwidth, larger number of data links, greater accuracy in receiving messages, and reduced delivery time.
