Pretty pointless to use helicopter that way: at altitude they are less effective (bet those bombs didn’t kill any enemy fighters) AND more vulnerable. Attack heloes are not to be used in timid fashion.
The helicopter was practically at zero speed. it was taking its time to drop the bomb. in city this approach more effective than fast moving rockets.

Western engines are very expensive. Only can be affordable with loans. Just look at Embarer quarterly loss. Unless you reach very big volume orders with strong currency it’s unaffordable.

IIRC there was no accusation that any British money was being paid in bribes to the multi-billionaire princes involved, merely eccentric routing of some of the Saudi state’s revenues. And since all that money is controlled by a small proportion of the many Saudi princes, & it seems pretty normal practice for them to blur the boundaries between state & family money (the father of all the kings since 1953 never did seem to grasp the idea that there was a difference, or so I’ve read), we can’t really do anything about their internal corruption.
They are polluting politics and policies of countries where they invest or buy stuff. These investigations are normal to keep tab but only one part is revealed to public and not the counter party.

Military products generations does not work like civillian. it takes long time to award contracts, test and deploy especially in West. i dont think any one in west using 65nm base in military products. Russians were using imported elements that were more advanced at time.

What Iraq needs is training , weapons/arms and Intelligence support something Russia can offer to iraq and Iraq can take it without Hurting Washington’s huge Pride and Ego. Its better to teach a man how to catch a fish so that he knows how to feed himself then to give him and make him dependent.

The core of Syrian military is the best in the arab world and Asad family the most competent ruler in modern Arab history. they rule over population for decades despite being minority of only 10% and without Oil money/Religious authority/big foreign Aid. JSRThere is no point for Russia in using attach helos in Syria, because of the mission Mi24P performs flying low and relatively slow they are significantly more likely to get shot down by a manpad or zu23-2 than a Su25,Su24 or Su34. Deploying more Su25,Su24 and Su34 instead of attack helos would be a better choice. And the Mi24 Gsh-23 gun is not really needed that much in Syria,more cluster bombs is enough of a substitute.

Unless there are further slips there should be ~12 very early production copies available in 2020. Hypothetically Russia could announce IOC with such aircraft but it would be pretty meaningless. Those initial airframes will be devoted to testing/development and there won’t be an operational squadron’s worth of fighters until sometime well into the 2020s.
The point is Ruaf is not losing its shirt on Pak-fA for something that is not needed short term. Rest of procurement from trainers/transports to new awacs to new jstar/ electronic attack planes /mobile Sam continue at rapid pace.
F-35 customers simply can’t afford anything and the plane not likely in operational war theater for long time.
