JSRI’ll bank this purely on the quality of the Israeli Armed Forces. They’re better, simple. Their gear is proven and up to high standards. If you think a dozen MiG-29M2/MiG-35’s or whatever will keep the IASF from destroying their intended targets, you are misled. I love the MiG-29, but I know that an Israeli pilot in an F-15 or F-16I will hastily remove it from the sky. I think the newly-delivered S-300’s are going to be taken out, sooner or later and the MiG-29’s can’t do a thing to stop it.
Gear is proven against what?. Israel cannot even afford to train its atheletes for Olympics on Western standards.
Russia has sold hundreds of fighters in Asia. it has direct input from those airforces to improve it. It simply has a lot more money/Technical resources and leverage with countries that make industrial machines that make the end product.

Russia is building new factories with Germanic engineering. so the weopon system will be of high quality. and Pilots training on western standards with salaries comparable or higher than NATO considering low tax.

JSRThe only way the Mik-29K would still be adequate past the next decade. Would be if China’s 5th Generation Fighters are total flops. Plus, while it sounds reasonable to wait. It takes a decade or more to procure and get into service a New Fighter. So, India doesn’t have to long in my opinion.
As for a Russian Naval Fighter that doesn’t look to good either. As Russia has discussed developing a Naval Variant of the PAK-FA. Yet, has shown little interest and has not funded it so far. As a matter of fact I have my doubts about any future Aircraft Carrier for the Russian Navy. As they just don’t have the resources available to fund such a project and have made comments about focusing more on Submarines. (again) Then let also consider even if Russia and India funded a Naval PAK-FA. Its so large it wouldn’t be about to operate from India’s New Aircraft Carriers just about ready to enter service. (i.e. Vikramaditya & Vikrant) So, what would operate from them in another 15-20 years???
The point is India simply does not have money for Naval 5G fighter for next 10 years. It hasnt even bought MMRCA. it will be making payments on non fuctional scorpene submarines. It has done alot of tenders but with little sign up. even N-LCA will be lucky to be operational in next 10 years. so you are very premature in advocating a new fighter for IN.
Naval PAK-FA will happen after 2020. presumbly with newer engines. PAK-FA already very powerful so it is suitable for naval conversion much better than any other fighter.

Coming back to the requirenments. I can only comment on Germany here, but I do believe there are good reasons to get a 5th generation capability. There are unresolved issues between the baltic states and Russia. Russia is now in the buiseness for it’s own 5th generation fighter.
Germany is involved in baltic air patrol, and has its NATO responsibilites. In case some of many conflicts between the Russian minority (often even without any citizenship !) and the local governments escalate, Germany has an interest to discourage Russian military intervention. (I’m not talking about a full scale war here between NATO and Russia !)
To achieve that politcal goal, Germany should have an answer to PAK-FA. Even if it is only for political willy waving.
I think you have high opinion about Germany. Germanic prospertiy is entirely dependend on trade/transport with Russia/China. Once all factories and technology got transferred these countries going to put very stiff demands on Germany. some them already showing up. so there is no requirement for 5G fighter in Germany as Germany is not going to defend any one. It needs fighters for cermonial role.

Israel hasnt taken out Yakhont that can impose sea embargo on Israel small coast line. Israel bluster regarding Iran has quieten down. Israel has developed certain technology but that technology is taken out by Russian money so Russian does not think it needs Israel that much. so i have doubt Israel can do that much about S-300. Israel apology to Turkey put an end to its credibility.

Syria airdefences are 30 to 40 years old and not particularly effective against standoff weopons as the coverage will be limited.
JSR5G fighters are expensive both in acquistion and operating. so not many countries can afford it

I can certainly make claim that MIG-35 is better than Eurocanards. it was the only aircraft demonstrated weopons firing with AESA radar in MMRCA. which EF simply couldnot. seeing the prolong negotiation of MMRCA it seems the whole process was bogus.
with infusion of huge money in Russina aviation industry and Ruaf procurement before 2020. It is more than likely that MIG-35 will always be at the top interms of new weopons/upgrades to avionics, engines etc.
There is simply not that much money in EU to improve EF/Rafale/Gripen. and what little left will go towards procurement of JSF.
TVC is not useless. It is being in used aircraft like Su-30MKI/F-22 which has far worse TWR than newer MIG-35. MIG-35 TVC is newer one.
JSRRussian air force will need 2 to 3 years to get familiar with the mig-35. Lets hope if it goes that way they choose 2nd generation 1000 TRi ASEA radar for the plane, and not the cheaper version. Get pilots familiar with next generation equipment. Also start designing a 5th generation plane at same time. Money and skills are the issues. May by when the Pak-fa has gone through its growing pains then the government can afford to put money into another 5th-6th generation plane, but then you have money going to PAk-Da.
I dont think MIG-35 induction will need so long time. by now UAC has plenty of experiance with what Ruaf wants in an aircraft. they have been supplying them Su-34/Su-35.
second MIG-29K is already supplied to IN. there is end user feed back. and there is prolong trials of MMRCA where AESA radar with weopons were demonstrated. It is very matured platform by now.

I am not sure whats the problem. MIG has separate factory. so it is additional production rate. the key objective is to have 1000 combat aircraft before 2020.
new simulators are introduced for MIG-29K so pilot training will be faster. MIG-35 is sufficent for all 4++ generation fighters. it will part of network of heavy jamming pod aircraft like Su-34/Su-35. otherwise Russia will become like China where so many projects like J-10B/J-31/J-15/J-20 running without operational significance. MIG-35 has 5 wet stations.

Although I do think Eurocans are superior to Fulcrum, it is not by so much that MiG-35 wouldn’t have been competitive in terms of value for money, familiarity with platform, etc. But I think it was never even in the running because the main point of MMRCA was to reduce reliance upon Russia and obtain western technology stream.
I dont think Eurocans will be superior to MIG-35 ordered by Ruaf. more updated engine with rapid modernization will enable it to be always better.
MMRCA will increase reliance on Russia as it will some decade before India can roll out Rafale. see the slow upgrade of M2K.
In mean time it will continue with Su-30.

I would put Algeria high on list. see Algeria reaction to that BP gas field attack. North African Arabs generally dont like to be influenced by persion gulf arabs. so it is highly likely they will purchase advanced weopons with long range. Algeria has subs and possibly equiped with cruise missiles.
I will not rule out Iran either. It will depend with bargaining with West. and how much West can squeeze persian gulf arabs. If Russia sees that West is weak and cannot control Middleast. than it will make alliance with Iran.
