B737 or G550 platform will need payment in dollars not good for falling Euro. remember it is credit to Italian government not private for profit business.

Israel will not give them enough flexibility in installing too much Italian equipment like Radar/ESM into AWACS as Israel is in business of selling defence equipment. Defence/Economic cuts in US/EU will have very negative impact on Israel trade. they are not South Korea/Taiwan.

I dont think Italian has electronics to contribute to next generation AWACS otherwise Sukhoi would have employed them on Superjet/MS-21.

A-100 will still be best solution for them as Russia more than likely to give them very soft credit just to gain foothold a. This relationship worth a lot.
Italians will be kicked out of Euro anyway but at that point whats left of its Industry will completely destroyed.

PS90-A2 has some components from EU as per wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aviadvigatel_PS-90

Regarding Boeing/Airbus, I was not talking about complete airplanes but just engines. Russia cannot export Tu-204 to Iran because of engine issues, I suppose. It has been stated somewhere that even Russian airlines do not want to fly Russian built planes, if it were just due to fuel-consumption, the Russian government could easily subsidise the fuel cost (being one of the biggest oil exporter in the world).
Soviet Union/Russia spent huge amounts of money on it’s aviation industry,
regrettably without any tangible benefit to its economy in the commercial aviation.

    http://www.jaffapix.com/dubai05/tu204.jpg
wikipedia is not source to rely on. Iran used the older Tu-204 just like Cuba. they got interested in Tu-204SM but they have wait untill newer PS-90 engines without PW IP is installed which is happening anyway as there share is bought up.

Russian airlines have orders An-148 and Volga Denpr/Polet is major operators of Russian Civil transports. Russian government will be second largest operator. You cannot exclude Government use.
They are in far better position than any other country interms of Civil Airlines supply chain. Boeing/Airbus depends on Russian Titanium and design experitze
and soon it will be CFRP
The question is for West & China they have invested much more than Russia but still depended on so many countries that no one is independent from one another and there is always too big to fail syndrome. if EU/US wont give Airport landing rights to airlines like Emirates/Ethihad. they will simply not buy there planes in bulk quantities. and this have very negative effect on domestic carreers profitability.
Aeroflot is well protected and will have some of the highest profits
It is not fuel consumption but using Airplanes on international routes where there is no support structure and Cockpits are still not identical. so Pilot training is going to be an issue.
SuperJet/MS-21 cockpit design is more closer to A-320.

The most relaible PS-90 series engine has quite a few components from EU and US.

The lack of global support also stems from their unrelaibility. Customers don’t want to buy unrelaible engines. No customers, no global support.

That is PS-90A2 with PW IP. Not EU. but that engine is only test TU-204SM not used anywhere else. so you cannot ignore all other PS-90 reliability. They are highly relaible but not efficient as latest Western Engines. but it does not cost that much either. Despite the fact Western engines are built in thousands that lowers the cost.

    http://rtdr.org/news/aviation/ps-90a3_engine_certified_for_flights.html
    PS-90A3 Engine Certified for Flights

You have to consider most airlines are bankrupt. They can get second hand boeing/Airbus and those who can afford can get easy deals from Boeing/Airbus which are backed by much larger banking system of West. (It does not matter whether that banking system need bailouts larger than GDP)
It is not business of selling Ipads.

Latest ones like PS-90A1/2/3 are not so unreliable. Russian government use it for long range flights.
they are used in Survellence aircraft like Tu-214SR/TU-214ON. and even AWACS and long range cargo like IL-400T.
IT just lack global support network in thousands of airports around the world as there not many aircrafts with those engines. and building thousands of Civil airlines require big loans from Banks and government. so it is better to sink money in newer projects than previous one.
If you look at EU/US. Russia is ahead most of them in stand alone basis. France need CFM, RR needs RR Deutchland, MTU has PW. GE has AVIO/Volvo Aero not to mention Koreans/Japanese.UTX has large Canadaian branch. Expertize are spread across countries.
Russians want to do 100% inhouse with PS-90 series and PD-XX. so it is much harder to create the specialized skill across the subcontractors.

Agreed but honestly I won’t take an order of such a small number to Algeria a great success, especially with the latest PLAAF/PLANAF-order in mind in comparison to the RuAF order … maybe You won’t agree, but IMO even of maybe 2-3 years late, in a few years there will be much more L-15 flying around than Yak-130.

    Deino

16 aircraft to Algeria is not small success for new bird considering its complexity and expense and Ruaf order of 65 is untill 2017. Total requirement is 300. Vietnam will get it at some point and so does CSTO countries.

I highly doubt Chinese version is cheaper considering imported engine. (afterburner version of engine is 560kg).nor it can go supersonic with external loads for any meaning full distance. A country will be better off MIG-21 copies that has climb rate and speed advantage. And those who want fighter there is FC-1.
Is there any real specification of L-15 with afterburner engine?

First time i heard Blacksea is extension of Mediterranean. Expect to have Blacksea fleet beefup first.

    http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=472066&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
Replying to a query on the reports of the Russian fleet movement in the Mediterranean Sea, the ambassador said there was nothing new in the Russian presence as his country’s fleet had always been carrying out monitoring duties along the region. He said the Black sea is an extension of the Mediterranean Sea and his country is duty-bound to protect the area.

Many things in aerospace manufacturing are globalized. The F-35 is loaded with European components (by design of course). Undoubtedly US components can likely be replaced with European components. However, this may come at an increased price for example.

Depends how you look at it. I think composite used in Figher aircraft are different than those used by Airbus.
Since EU does not have centralized pool of large Funding like Pentagon for fighters. So no Tier-1 supplier invest enough as there is no assurance whether all EU wide fighter programs will use the same supplier
so EU will always be depended on US for fighter and even UAV composites.
and without this EU firms cannot promise TOT in fighter competition and price pressures of dollar.

    http://www.hexcel.com/solutions/aerospace/adefense-aircraft
These programs include the C-17, F/A-18E/F Hornet, F-22 Raptor and the Eurofighter Typhoon. The military transporter aircraft Airbus A400M is also supplied by Hexcel – and Hexcel supplies the carbon fiber for the F- 35 Joint Strike Fighter.

All composite structures on the Eurofighter Typhoon, including wings, front fuselage and tail section, are built with Hexcel’s HexPly® 8552 epoxy Prepreg. Together with Hexcel’s advanced Bismaleimide (BMI) system that is used for high temperature components and HexWeb® honeycomb used in the sandwich structures, Hexcel’s total contribution per aircraft is over a ton of composite material.

Hexcel’s prepregs, Out of Autoclave products, reinforcements and honeycombs are also suitable for the manufacture of Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles (UAV’s)

NP1 is about to fly soon and you call it a non-starter? Do you even know what a non-starter means ? IN has already paid for the first 6 prototypes and the program is moving on, regardless of your opinion of it. the IN will back it to the hilt if it meets specifications they have listed out for it.

flying a fighter on land does not make it a Naval fighter. None of those 6 aircraft will fly from Carrier.

well the same can be said about Rafale
from where Hexcel composite and Magnolia Plastics, Goodrich sensors, Thales NorthAmerica. There are so many US/German/British supply to Rafale that i highly doubt it is even 60% French. and i believe when you source components from so many places with low production. The cost will balloon up. Just because some thing has Dassualt/Thales/Snecma name does not mean they are not by itself sourcing from so many components outside of France.

The PAK-FA would likely be considered too large for Indian carrier ops. Even with a Kuznetsov-sized IAC-2 the number of aircraft that could be packed on board would be limited to 20 or so.

The IAF will probably go for another medium-class fighter. That leaves either the F-35 or a possible naval AMCA.

But all that is several years away anyhow. The 45 MiG-29Ks and 40 Naval LCAs are more than adequate for the Vikramaditya and IAC-1, and IAC-2 is unlikely to enter service before 2020.

why would it be considered large. if it has folding wings. PAK-FA with superior TWR & TVC should have an edge. PAK-FA is not overweight Su-33 that other medium size fighter can easily compete. You wont need external fuel tanks with PAK-FA that you need to store for medium size fighters so they will take extra space on carrier. Naval LCA is non starter.

 All the republican front runners have an Alliance with India as part of their foreign policy piece.

As for i.e talking about being neutral we will be as long as our great neighbour to the east stop supporting Pakistan.

We no longer have a Soviet Union to counter the Sino-Pakistani Nexus, as we had in the past, in that case an Alliance with America is needed in the long term.

It wont matter who ever Republican gets elected. They are supplied side economics with complete elimination of middle class. No middle class no stable society.remember this phrase.
    http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1859513_1859526_1859517,00.html

US will be even more beholden to China. and India will be facing very high inflation infact total economic meltdown. This even without considering republican starting any war. In 21st century it is hard currency power matters not paper alliances. India need to stand on its Four feets.

If India is getting ToT from FGFA & MRCA, no problem in buying pure capability in F 35 & U.S Alliance.

Well if Repulican like John McCain got in 2008 or in future
YOu wont be discussing MMRCA/F-35 or any alliance.

L-15 is 5ton empty and 9.8ton MTOW. I wonder how much it can even use afterburner with two engines. And it wont be $10m as speculated. Extremely low production of both engine and aircraft.

It would have been better for UK do design and built its own fighter with 100% parts good for domestic economy, upgrades and even exports.
Far better than involving in two dysfunctional programs EF/JSF. UK is good in propulsion and Radar. but fighter is not just sum of its parts.
how about all the missiles. independent weopon package along with independent satellite guidance is also important

8th largest country in the world by population. In the long run it’ll probably drop to 10th even as it heads towards 5th by GDP. Russia is and will remain a heavyweight in the international system, just not one in the same league as the Big Three.

Not in terms of national power it isn’t. Of course some kinds of growth are healthier than others – see Israel’s booming Muslim population and the identity crisis that awaits that nation as a result. And of course immigration-driven growth is a net zero on the global population burden.

You constantly mention big three. Big three in what?
for example in less than 5 year China trade surpluses will completely elminated as living standards rise for consumption & it spends more money on R&D so it will not even have money to lend to US for consumption. Now one third of US population live on Federal spending. when US cannot replace its old debt with new debt cheaply. its government spending will start collapsing. There will simply be not money left to lend to EU/US when China/India economy become large enough as they will start consuming surplus money from countires like Russia/GCC.
Japan Population savings were 3 times its size of GDP. thats why it still survives for 2 decades after economic collapse. and it is not just savings but huge spending R&D that maintain Japan trade surpluses for decades as small population was exporting high value exports that were more than imports.
Japanese were building products that can be exported. Not some thing like Online search engines that suck money from other sectors of economy.
None of China/US/India has this scale of money that is larger than GDP to support current living standards let alone grow into 2050. so ur all talk of Big 3 China/US/India will be completely depended on outside finances with unable to support global military presence. about EU. The less say the better.
    http://blogs.ft.com/beyond-brics/2011/11/18/putin-courts-france-for-investment/#axzz1eHMAe57K
Brazil will become larger than EU. Population is not measure of strength. rather Centralized system of project completion with focused R&D and large natural resources.
