A hole in the dirt? That all what I can see.
The reliability and precision of the 30+ years old Tomahawk remain striking. And I think this is what have to be understood at the end. I don’t like the airstrike diplomacy (Vietnam could teach us a lesson) but the message for Assaad and his click is clear: the Russian didn’t bother to shoot any (but one?) of the missiles.

missile strike diplomacy is correct. i dont think this is 30 year old missile. it will be newer manufacturing. USN may not have fully trust its reliability as they shoot it from short range.
The Russian Klibr were sent from Caspian sea in zig zag formation to avoid Iraki and Iranian cities. the strikes real distance was not revealed.

Trump Considering Sanctions Against Russia, Iran for Supporting Syria

    https://sputniknews.com/world/201704091052467243-us-syria-trump-haley/

I am not sure why Trump is worked up on Syria. China is throwing South Korean business left and right and thats just begining.

Chinese are creeping inside Middleast . once they know every thing from inside. they will boot out alot of countries labor and business.

    http://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/2042978/chinese-aerospace-giant-unveils-first-smartphone-countrys-satellite
“I believe Chinese companies in the Middle East will be potential clients of the TT-1 smartphone service because China’s Beidou system is also targeting the market in the region.
Another state-owned aerospace giant, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), which focuses on missile development, unveiled the export version of its advanced YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship cruise missile – the CM-302 – at the air show.
Dubbed China’s carrier killer, the missile is also capable of attacking ground targets. Potential clients from the Middle East, including a delegation from the Royal Saudi Air Force leaders, inspected the missile at the air show on Wednesday.

Chinese have put there own people into Islamist world and they will be using them.

…and another bunch of Russian lies comes unraveled. This would be funny if it weren’t so sad.

So here is the question of the day. Does Russia:

    A. Not realize that these days there are tons of satellites that will quickly prove them wrong.

    or

    B. Just not care if they are caught lying again because there are always the “Russia Stronk!” crowd who will believe anything they are told to.

It say damage aircraft shelter it does not tell the aircraft hit are operationally actives. These are old 70s made aircraft . At most 40% operative . unless there is decrease in sortie rate you can’t make claim of effective strike.

They were not controlled but they take into consideration every one as equal. it is like decision making in backward dysfuncitonal democracy.

Chinese are thrilled by the attack. They already got drone factory in Saudi and alot of UCAV and telecom network sales.they put Paksitan General incharge of that islamic Nato. The western training, weopons, system capability all will be exposed from Middleast.

Recently we have been receiving new missiles, which let us work in near space, long distances and high speeds,” Gumenny told the Echo of Moscow radio, answering the question on whether the new missiles will be able to destroy objects in near space

What has Iraq official reaction to the strike , AFAIK they have been supportive of Assad government in past but they also have supported US in fight against IS in Iraq

Pay attention to Egypt not Irak . With Soviet Weopons and support Egypt got Suez canal and all the money from Camp David and all the money from Arab league headquarter. and those Soviet weopons were scientifically primitive and Soviet science actual implemention into manufacturred product was not refined.

now think about Russia actually present full time in Syria and more advance weopons export Egypt. which they can use to terrify Saudis and Israelis even more. and i bet this whole Yemen resupply is from Red sea. division of Libya and i can even foresee division division of Saudi between Egypt and Iranian zone.

Arab League calls for ‘de-escalation’ in Syria

The more intra Arab and Iranian wars there is less money for Turkey. they will lose badly to Kurds and land route from Russia to Syria can be created where all those traders in the way can make money.

There is no change to status quo, the U.S. launched a strike against a single target in Syria (as Israel has done in the recent past). The policy is the same, eliminate ISIS while not “buying” the Syria conflict. There is no solution without the U.S., Russia, Gulf States, and Iran working toward a mediated peace. That is a long way off. The faux indignation is does not change reality on the ground and the major players know this, and let’s hope they are more realistic than the commentary on this thread.

The U.S. and other western nations will react with horror to certain events and possibly respond with targeted strikes, but there will be no intervention. Not while Russia is knee deep in this. One reason is the risks are too high, second is that the U.S. has enough issues trying to deal with the Iraq quagmire to bail Russia out of theirs. In the words of Colin Powell “You break it, you’ve bought it”. Not that Russia caused the situation in Syria, but there is no clear solution and Russian interests in Syria rely on Assad.

Actually every weopon is a chemical weopon when you consider long term effects like cancer and birth defects. Russia has already scolded Natinyaho for interfferring in Syria. Russia does not interfere untill this point in otherwars in like Yemen, Afghanistan, Irak. This kind of selective outrages will make Russia double down and create far greater casualties in every theatre.

I think their reaction tells us all we need to know.

If Trump was sending a message it is safe to say it was received loud and clear.

Yes the message is received and very intense airstrikes .That deconfliction suspension. There are 4 more years of Trump.

Some people seem to not fully understand why the US is reacting the way it does.

The reason why Trump changed his mind about Assad is not because Assad “killed children”. It is because A kept those chemical weapons. For Trump it is still America First.

THis is IMHO the most relevant qoute:

I doubt that America First if you understand that slogan. this whole thing is too show Israel and Saudi US is back in Middleast without him realizing that he wont have money for the wall.

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/04/trump-syria-statement-transcript-236976

This is what this is all about: preventing and detering the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons. The scenario that I am sure some of Trumps advisors have informed him about is that terrorists could get access to these chemicals and launch an attack on the US.

This is a message not just to Assad but to dictators everywhere: “do whatever you want within your own country but do not develop and store chemical (or nuclear) weapons” — if there is a risk that those weapons can end up in the hands of terrorists (one way or another).

A guy in North Korea should also take notice.

He cannot deter chemical weopons with ineffective strikes. rather it emboldens every one else to carry them. Either do it with fulll force or dont do it.

One airbase, which had prior warning at least 30 minutes to 1hr from russian ships in Mediterranean and radar and planes in Latakia and so on. Enough time to clear runway, land helicopters outside of base and fly aircraft to other locations. Even if more cruise missles were launched on other bases it would be cat and mouse games. With Russian radar coverage of northern and central Syria there is always going to be some warning. Launching from turkey is out, lauching from iraqi and iran direction is out.
You only have a few choices. I dont think even Israel would allow cruise missle fly over. So Lebanon is i, like Israel does.
Curious though if Russian airforce or air defence systems tried shooting down some of the cruise missles. Or limited Syrian defences, they do have pantsair shoot down any.

60 is big quantity. no one will correctly disclose the real tracking and shooting down of missiles. It also show that having Russian inside country save them from real effective strike.
This kind of operation will inflame Iran and Irak as there alot of Irakis helping Syria. I am sure they will be more open to Russia and the more Russian got closer to Persian gulf the more money it can squeeze from them the better will be procurement and training for Ruaf.

Putin is too clever for it. Trump is becoming Erdogan. Trump ineffective actions will make people lose confidence in him and to compensate for that he will make more rash decisions.

Well, it looks like Trump has painted himself into a corner with his comments and will be forced to attack Assad to save face. He can’t afford not to now given the Russia collusion scandal and the fact he hasn’t been able to deliver anything he’s promised.

How does this play out now? The US show of force has to be big and televised.

A cruise missile attack on Syrian AF bases probably won’t be spectacular enough. Also what if Syria moves all its aircraft to Latakia?

The chance of US vs Russia miscalculations are going to be high if Russia continues flying and US uses the airforce for the attack. Waits to be seen whether Russia will ground their aircraft in the face of the US campaign. Russians could fly with transponders on I guess.

Trump is not a very competent he already climb down so many issues. I doubt he can find money for his wall and certainly it will be way overbudget.Russia will try embroiled him more and more in Middleast by giving him mix signals.
