1 ton extra fuel not alot when weight increase is 2 tons. Plus overload it with more weopon stations.

4 RBS 15 at approx. 600kg each + pylons + 2 IRIS-T equals less than 3 tons excluding drop tank, it should be very realistic for a 100-200nm run out from a hidden / protected airbase out to the Baltic for launch, that is more than needed for many customers. Just remember that not all countries plan for long range offensive missions..

it is about surplus fuel and power to escape to another airbase. the aircraft will need a steep climb to 30 to 40k feet to give maximum situational awarness to radar and range to missiles and after launching those subsonic missiles it can escape back to an unknown airbase.

I think Gripen will do much better than that for the following reasons:

1. The new RBS-15 will be much lighter (and presumably also smaller) than the current RBS-15.

2. Gripen E has grown quite a lot since Gripen C; if you look at my previous post, it is now (compared to F-16 block 50) roughly the same length, empty weight is approx. 600 kg less but still carries 200kg more internal fuel than the F-16 block 50.

Of course Gripen E will still remain a small fighter so range will probably drop considerably when carrying so many missiles, but at least it will have a significantly better “starting point” than the current Gripen.

Gripen is clearly overweight for its engine power. and draggier weopon load will make it more uncompetitive. it just cant provide the altitude and accelaration for missile shots.

Current MIG-29 at 180km.

The Zhuk-AME is made of sophisticated electronic componentry. Its transmit-receive (T-R) modules are made of light high-temperature ceramics with the use of the 3D technology. This allows a reduction in the thickness of the AESA itself to about 10 cm together with the power supply sources and control units. The radar consists of three units – the AESA, synthesizer and computer system.

The Zhuk-AME is far more advanced than the current radars are now.

“The radar’s performance has been boosted by about 50% as a result of consolidating all technological strengths in the AESA. The overall weight of the advanced radar is around 100 kg. While the MiG-29 can attack targets out to 180 km, the latest Zhuk extends the engagement range to 260 km,” Phazotron-NIIR’s general designer emphasized.

For serial produced weapons systems, as MIG-29M2 for Egypt, Zhuk-A is still doesn’t exist, isn’t in production and can’t be installed on the actual weapon systems…because it never existed as a tested and serial produced module for the actual weapon systems as MIG-29M2. See? I was right.

You just need to separate your wishful thinking and the “Legends of Tommorow” from reality. In reality, there is no such a weapon module as FCR Zhuk-A. There are only some prototypes in development with unclear level of their readiness even for the State Trials, which they still not passed yet.

it depends how much Egypt paying and and when they signed the original order and when they want the system. as I said it hasnt been received by Ruaf so your premature speculation of its non-existence when it clearly exist and Phazotron AESA development are broad from Ka-27M to UAVs and radar satellites. there is no reason to doubt.

this your orignal statement. any one who has learned english well will think it never existed. The better statement to make it is that it hasnt been delivered yet in final form. and who knows what that final form is in year 2019.

Hardly anything may happen to thing which never existed.

Its a continous competition with Flanker series who are in much higher yearly production and much wider pilot base now for quick induction. if one F-35 pilots takes $10m than even more efficient Ruaf will still need half to a million dollar for pilots.
