They´ll team with anyone in Europe who doesnt buy American or Russian. The Germans in a pinch (read Putin goes semi berserk in Ukraine or something like that) might go for the F-35A for part of their fleet, but they wont kill their own industry and they´ll go European for the lions share of the Luftwaffe, thats policy, its written and no one wich has a shot at being government in Berlin wants to change. So, that means in the next decade we are going to see “ZeGermans” teaming up with France and/or GB and a few others.
There´s one thing that has not been mentioned, if the German MOD gets its “2% of the GDP” till 2024 has promised… well, they dont need to team with anyone, their defense budget almost doubles, outstriping (by a fair margin) everyone in Europe (yes, everyone).

Germany and 2%? Is that a joke. They can’t even afford 1%. If Germany does not do business on Russia terms it will have to give very major concession to China and Middleast to put it mildly. Plus they used to build mediocre products like A320/A330 and automobiles for decades so slightly complex A400M/A380 become overpriced and delay. There won’t be another Emirates to bailout and neither can Middleast buy that overpriced weopon systems like Eurofighter to keep assembly line going at acceptable level. 5G fighter is well beyond Germany technical and financial capacity.

I don’t think there is anything like “average Russian”.. the country’s income is very inequal and resembles United States while Canada is European-like in that regard.

the fact is Russia extremely rich with superior education system thats why they can spend unlimited amount on r&d and procurement. have you look at size of military exercise recently. 500 missiles tests in one exercise and several thousands troops in another . they dont do things on small scale. The size of fighters, tanks, rocket artellery is getting bigger and more complex and so is fuel tanks and logistics. to operate these complex systems in net centric battle space the quality of personal has to increase to much higher level. Canada is going backwards in every aspects that even
Chinese will dump them.
