I have a hard time believing Russia is considering this after how recently Russia and Turkey were enraged at each other. Plus the fear (justified or not) that this could give the rest of NATO access to their much-hyped S-400.
they are selling it to China and India those countries are as much westernized as Turkey. the issue is more can Turkey afford it? as rest of turkey programmes are extremely slow to implement.
There are several working prototypes of the CAFRAD radar and they have been selected to be used in the I-Class Frigates and TF-2000 class frigates of the Turkish Navy. No product developed by Turkish industry is immediately commissioned into the Turkish Armed Forces hence the gap between development and deployment. TAF wants several years of testing before allowing any system to be used by it. The CAFRAD systems were more recently tested in South Africa by the Turkish Navy.
Turkey has invested billions into Radar development and today they export and sub-contract to companies like THALES. Turkey’s biggest success is the GaN power amplifier MMICs (one of the critical blocks of those T/R modules). ASELSAN and Bilkent University jointly established a GaN foundry named AB-MikroNano in December 2014 responsible for mass production of GaN dies. These GaN based T/R modules will also be used in Turkey’s airborne AESA radar for the TF-X.
so if Turkey is so good in tech why it need so many subcontractors for submarine upgrades?

STM is the main contractor responsible for managing the program. In 2016, STM awarded contracts to Airbus Defence and Space, Aselsan and Havelsan for periscope and optronic masts, electronic support measures (ESM) systems, and command and control suites, respectively. The U.K-based Kelvin Hughes joins these subsystem vendors in supporting the Agosta 90B upgrade program.
“The fifth generation aircraft that is set to be developed with the UAE is expected to be a variation of the MiG-29 fighter jet.”
Yesssss. We might see a stealth Mig 29. Dream come true
MIG29 is too small for carrying internal weopons and fuel and will likely become overweight with reduce range. MIG29 just need more improvement and cheaper standoff weopons on multiple racks.
Oh.. it looks like you have everything covered there 🙂
So how much will the initial R/D bill be, whos gonna pay for it?
Realisticly, how long would such program take?
What other program would have to be axed or delayed for this to ever happen? When i got to your last part approx $60 mill flyaway, i had to put my Coffey cup down, lol!
Like i said, hope wont get you far, nor does dreaming.
MIG has seen a steady loss of knowhow personel over the last 20years. They all work for other aviation company now.
The whole MIG branch is in chamble.
And now MIG will succeed where SAAB, EF, Rafale, US Boeing and LM has ended up in the ditch 🙂Many other Russian State program has been delayed or axed altogether. Like the next interceptor. New CAS platform etc, due to difficult/shortage in Military funding.
I’m i the only one in here that see this..?
It just wont happen!Edit:
Perhaps the best point;
There is something called UAC in Russia, and within UAC is Sukhoi. now Sukhoi has a very stronk influence in UAC.
The last thing Sukhoi would want to see is less state funding for any of their state contract’s and R/D programs stream of funding due to Russia having to fund MIG’s program.
MIG is gaining personal. how do you think that fast upgrades to MIG-31BM happening? from where those JF17 and other helicopter engines coming from?. where are those 70 MIG29K and numerous MIG29SMT upgrades? MIG35 has separate industrial chain and its quick induction will accelerate Su24/Su25 retirement. there plenty of order for MIG29.
Iran/Syria/Egypt and possibly Irak/Libya down line are all potential customers for MIG29 upgrades and new built.

Russia May See Mid-East, African States Queuing for MiG-35 Fighter Jet
This jet really has a good prospects in terms of promotion at the foreign markets, including the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. Currently we are considering the possibility of conducting a presentation of its technical abilities to particular foreign buyers,” Frolkin told reporters at the IDEX-2017 exhibition in the United Arab Emirates.
The demographic and financial changes in US will make Israel look for other allied as it can’t maintain its qualititive edge without external support. The problem is Israel does not have anything to offer to Russia that it will sell better weopons that it will sell to others.
China is getting antiship missile. not sure its related to Su-35.
http://tass.com/defense/932131
Russia, China sign contract on supply of anti-ship missile systems
it wont take until 2030 as engines will be either further development of RD33 or engine from PAKFA .and same with various electronic and electroc optical systems. Russians extremely good with as they already implemented TVC around various platform. at most 3 year of flight tests and its done. Current MIG35 already vastly superior than draggier and overweigh F16E. Plus this development may come with next generation of weopon systems.
Why would Turkey and Israel get into a fight?
Cheers
Turkey used to buy Israel military equipment now Turkey will become competitor to Israeli equipment as both works in upgrade market and UAVs. Plus if Turkey has to enhance its creditionals it has to start fight with Israel. and in fight with Israel Russia equipment will become handy. Turkey is not that much in hurry in its own F35 buy.
there is also drone testing.

Russia Begins Flight Tests of UAE-Made United 40 Military Drone
Don’t go full retard, thanks
you made claim of similar sales approach. Russia booted out Ukraine from parts supply. so sub contractors in other countries simply cant make long term investment hoping that will supply to Ruaf.

New Export Version Of Su-30SM Fighter Unveiled At Singapore Airshow 2016
Russian-made components for the Su-30SME fighter jet’s avionics suite have allowed enhancing the aircraft’s capabilities.
Ploy…. the F-35 isn’t for sale in the gulf due to Israeli assurances. Gulf states tend to sign all sorts of agreements, this one seems as plausible as the sale of diesel electric submarines to Taiwan that US congress approved under the Bush admin. One problem, the US doesn’t produce those, nor does Russia have a single engine light fifth gen in the pipeline.
Putin is not Bush Admin. The only question is whether is MIG29 size twin engine fighter or single engine. I am sure it will be built if it is needed in Middleastern wars which Russia fully intend to supply.
Gulf can sign all sort of agreements but its Putin that has the bargaining power so the business relationship is always one sided.

If you want to troll, at least make some effort.Russian has very similar approach with HAL FGFA
really? it similar? what percent of parts in T-50 from India. that FGFA is separate venture. even the Su-30SM parts practically all replaced.
But… I was on the F-35 thread, and all of the Russian’s were telling me that stealth doesn’t work.
Is it written any where Ruaf is adopting this plane at this point. It gives countries like Egypt / UAE or Libya to have a follow-up to MIG29 with much more operational flexibility. I am foreseeing great success for Russian tanks as even the outdated models performed well in Syria.
Yep, no one apart from Japan , Korea , Australia , Israel , Italy , Denmark , United Kingdom , Norway , Turkey…the list go on
These are directly or indirectly industrial and trade partners with F35 programme. Russian sales approach is very different .
Turkey has AESA on its AWACS. it did not help them compete with big radars in Sukhois. Once Sukhoi showed the airforce got very limited. even Israel send missiles across the border.
its the engine thrust and altitude that matter for BVR shot.
