I wonder why they just dont restart Su-25 production , Its perhaps the best cost effective fighter out there.

May be they can just modernise it with a AESA radar on nose and MAWS , plus a modern glass cockpit/datalink and some basic stuff jammer etc. Thats perhaps a more noteworthy aircraft to restart its production

I think if they succeed in upgrades at quick pace to Su-34. the days of Su-25/Su-24 maybe numbered.
Su-34 give you loitering time, space for sophisticated targeting and self protection systems and flexibility of more weopons in same sortie.

All of this is increasingly tangential to the main point, that being that Russia’s economy is one of resource extraction with a far smaller and uncompetitive manufacturing and high-tech sector.

for resource extraction you need advance technology and skilled labor. it is not work of unskilled workers. Look at Norway or Canada. The Oil industries had some of the highest avg salaries in the world. than there is complex pipeline , pumping station, storage system that need supercomputers to operate and than full cyber security staff. and it is just one field. rare earth metals another. No one can compete in aircraft grade titanium with Russia.
building world most advanced nuclear reactors with full fuel cycle is uncompetitive manufacturing?. or you consider this part of uranium mining?

If we are discussing manufacturing from an economic standpoint then what matters is where the cars are built. BMWs built in the US count as US manufactured cars. (and yes, an F-35 built in Italy would count as a European manufactured plane)

If you want to start pulling the thread on brands, and whether a BMW built in the US counts as German or American… that is a separate discussion.

The point in either case remains the same… the US exports plenty of cars to Europe where Europeans happily buy them. The same can’t be said of Russia, which exports essentially zero cars and those only to its former colonies.

why would Russia waste its labor/materials/energy on oversupplying cars to rest of the world?. they need bare minimum cars for economical production. and foreign labor need to be under control to certain percentage of population.
Car byitself is non productive asset. as too much cars in society means too many mechanics, gas stations, insures, car salesman, tax people dealing with cars not to mention the whole real estate occupied by such services. the same with overdependence on air travel.

I will explain very simple. on surface UK is constructing more hotel rooms but hotel size on avg is 100 rooms. while Russia and Germanay hotel size on average is 200 rooms. what does it tell?

Russia also reminding Arabs that Israel is composed of Eastern EU.

Setting aside the subjective for a moment and looking only at the objective… NATO, and the West in general are vastly more developed and capable than Russia. Should Russia persist in taking actions that appear threatening to NATO it can expect NATO to respond. Russia can’t possibly win an arms race, not qualitatively, and certainly not quantitatively.

what is more developed?. the public transport, fresh water resources, green belt in the city, internet speed, population density, firms that can extract globally oil/gas in all regions of the world, superior nuclear and missile industry, superior weopon production. they never run out bombs in Syria despite high intensity. Russia conducted some of largest military exercises in modern history.

I have no idea what EW capability those air forces have against the S-400, and neither do you.
But I am fairly confident that NATO and the Israelis will have recorded all the signals emitted from the battery in Syria. The IDF had an effective solution to the S-300 15 years ago, so will have worked on techniques to deal with the S-400. There is an old saying in the Middle East, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

You already know export customers get downgraded stuff.t that is several years behind . the new k77m comes with AESA radar with over 40mile seeker range that was announced in 2013 with manufacturing in 2013.
