hi Kabir – great news, but at the wrong time i think.
At present a lot of the younger forum members in the UK such as myself are just about to enter exam season – rite thru until the end of june, so i think although the news is great, it might be a idea to hold on for a couple of months to get the support off the forums members with regional news etc
Just a point which i thought u might like to consider

Jet2 launches Prague and Faro
Jet2 new destinations!
As a valued Jet2 friend we are delighted to let you know before anyone else that we are announcing our winter programme, which includes two fantastic new destinations.
We have added a new choice for city breaks and a new winter sun destination so there really is no excuse…whether you want a short break or to escape the cold and head for the sun you can do either by choosing to fly with Jet2.
Jet2 will also be adding snow destinations to the new schedule to give winter sports enthusiasts the opportunity to Jet2 the piste from their local airport.
We would like you to suggest which snow destinations you like to Jet2, please do so by e-mailing destinations@jet2.com with your suggestion. This will help us to make our final decision.
New for city breaks is Prague….
Capital of the Czech Republic and set in the heart of Europe.
ON SALE NOW!
For low cost beer and plenty of cheer Prague is the place to be
Visit the Petrin Maze of Mirrors
Take your pick from the “Old Town” or “New Town” to soak up the culture and historical sites

And for those winter sun seekers…. Jet2….Faro
ON SALE BEGINNING OF MAY!
Choose from one of the many resorts on the Algarve including Villamoura, home to the marina, lined with shops, bars and restaurants and Albufeira which offers a contrast of vibrant holiday spots alongside the more traditional fishing practices for all to see
The Algarve boasts a beautiful climate for winter sun-seekers
Sport enthusiasts can take advantage of a wide range of sporting facilities including magnificent golf courses
In addition….
Holiday-makers can rest assured that they can still travel at low-cost prices to their favourite hot spots throughout the winter months, as Jet2 will continue services to Malaga (daily), Barcelona and Alicante – the region’s most popular destinations for sun.
City break fans and business travellers will also be delighted because as well as Prague, Jet2 will continue its service to Amsterdam (twice daily).
originally they were going to use 2 MD83s on flightlines AOC, but to be fair the a/c would be spending an awful lot of time on the ground. I think we’ll have to wait until next summer to see if they bring the flights “In House”
According to their “webpage” – thats all it is http://www.planetair.co.uk the Palma has been dropped – four routes only at present
Alicante Saturday
Malaga Saturday
Tenerife Friday
Faro Sunday
Its all to do with the Villa changeover dates – they are a flight only provider
no plane earns money sat on the ground…
well its out for tender the bid to commercial organisations – like everything been privatised away from government – i reckon that it’ll b a partnership of companies such as Rolls Royce teaming up with Boeing and ? then BAe Systems, Airbus and ? – putting together a package – will be interesting to see who wins – bearing in mind the B767 ith be in service as a KC with the USAF first…
thats the one Ren – couldn’t think on the spot!
yea – the current a/c are G-CELS/X/U/V – CELY is the latest thats just been delivered – all B737-377s ex Ansett -Jet2 is actually part of the Dart Aviation Group along with Channex – all flights op with the channex LS flightnumbers and Channex callsign
Nope – Planet Air this year are not operating their own a/c. The flights are still going ahead but been operated y other airlines a/c based abroad – for example the Sat Alicante flight is operated by a Hola Airways B733, Sunday Faro Air Luxor A320 – other operators incl Spanair MD83 To Tenerife, Air Europa to Palma, and Furture to Malaga. Hope this helpsa – not sure what the future holds!
forgot to add this…
i’m sure the forum will put a good response together Ant for you!
great news for SOU – a niche market clinched there by Flybe
another interesting point – note the cages around the engines to prevents damage though accident and FOD etc – a simple idea i’ve never seen before!
what about some kind of aid for oil programme? – basically a loan, but not in cash – exchanged in oil?
