I have been there only twice and popped down most mornings on my bike. I was lucky enough to catch the DC-8 a couple of times (must have been first mornings when I was sober!), but never saw the Gando FA-18s there, only CASA-235s 🙁

Would love to go there again tho!

I think ‘WC’ was a weather diversion as was VP-BSD – Jersey was a bit foggy.

VP-BAT 747SP is often there so it can take the heavy stuff. Has also had AN124’s carrying Nimrod fuselages. 8000ft runway now so can take most things.

That would have been the LTN-GCI-JER and would only have diverted if JER and GCI where fogbound then!

Like the pic of ‘OU’ after coming back from the Channel Islands – not quite sure what ‘WC’ the SH36 was doing there – not a scheduled service but they go in there for MX from time to time.

There are plenty of cheapish hotels in the North in Roissy-en-France. The BB i think is the cheapest, with the Kyriad, Campinile and Ibis are the cheaper of the 20 or so hotels all in the vicinity. What you really want to take into account is the 16 Euro a day it would cost your for a dayrider on the RER and Busses accross town, whereas all the hotels in the vicinity of CDG have free bus travel to the airport, where for the vast sum of Euro 2.80 you can then catch a bus to the gates of LBG (Bus 350).

PM me for further info if required!

Great pics there – especially like the SEN ones – note the B752 will be the first for delivery to Axis Airways of France. I presume the 3 Aussie HS748s are still airworthy?

When I was at bmi, the LBA-EDI and GLA used to fill well purely because they had agreements in place with major companies like RBS, so a lot of seats were filled at contract fares and the rest they could pretty much charge what they like.

Not sure personally that someone like Jet2 would have the same success with these routes relying on leisure traffic and the lower end of the business market.

For a large part of last summer the route operated with a combination of the F100 and E145. The F100 been used on the route usually through the week and the E145 at the leaner weekend periods. However with the demise of the F100 fleet (the last of the fleet operates the LBA-LHR run now), the aircraft was downsized to the E145, but an extra rotation was put on. With the increase in traffic on the route it was mooted that in the future this may be a route moved over to mainline for A319 operations once LBA has bedded the A320 family in on the LHR run and using LBA based crews (the current F100 crews are LBA based I believe whereas the previous B737 crews were LHR based – perhaps somebody can confirm?) – personally I can’t see that happening any time soon!

And as for the first evening of the summer schedules… the fog is rolling in!

Sorry to post another message – Steve do you know anything more about a 762 staying all summer? Would love to change my signature to say ‘Boeing 767-200’ :D, last widebody I flew on was an A300 in 1998!

I just heard it on the rumour mill recently. The B752/762 ops were shared with BHX over the summer and were a straight aircraft swap. As with all things charter best thing is to see what turns up on the day!

I believe if this was so it would be the first time that LBA would have a widebody aircraft based for a whole season.
