Sorry to post another message – Steve do you know anything more about a 762 staying all summer? Would love to change my signature to say ‘Boeing 767-200’ :D, last widebody I flew on was an A300 in 1998!

I just heard it on the rumour mill recently. The B752/762 ops were shared with BHX over the summer and were a straight aircraft swap. As with all things charter best thing is to see what turns up on the day!

I believe if this was so it would be the first time that LBA would have a widebody aircraft based for a whole season.

Also heard the AEU rumours, but I think we are best waiting and seeing with them over anything – we’ve had AEU rumours of their own B733/737, Lotus A319 and now Air New Zealand! Would be nice to see the New Zealand models!

Very interesting, but personally I would rather see them connect the “missing links” to the likes of Budapest, Pisa and Valencia. Another couple of aircraft would enable this and perhaps a couple of LGW services? But again, where do we park em all!

I also hear the B752 operationg for the summer with BAL has been ditched in Favour of keeping the B762 here all summer? Would be very interesting if this happened with all the Tui hype from Finningley.

I was up there today on a kinda “spur of the moment” decision with the nice weather and all – was certainly as popular as ever at the viewing area!

I If a plane goes tech, not a great problem, don’t have to put up parcels in a hotel.

How wrong! Passengers moan, but customers from freight companies do too. if you loose one customer you may loose several routes – rather than several pax who take a seat a couple of times a year for example?

Freight contracts have reliability ties which run into big bucks for a delayed or cancelled flights. For the likes of Fedex if your aircraft goes tech or is delayed and the parcels miss their 11am delivery deadline then they are delivered free of charge to the customer- how much do you think that costs on an MD-11 load? That is the reason they have the spares sat on the ground!

I have heard many in the industry say that in the main the freight buisness is a much more profitable business than the pax side of things!

G-BTPE has not been updated on the G-INFO site for a while, so I presume it has been mothballed.

I believe it is being converted to an ATPF for WestAir Sweden
