They certainly do provide some interesting photo opertunities as they turn onto finas at just about over the threshold as some airports! Always love seeing those aircraft in the Caneries!
BAe stopped production of the JS41 in 1997 i believe…

Iceland Express is now flying with one plane for Ryanair. Is it returned yet?
I think you are getting a little cofused – The Ryanairs are being operated by Islandsflug (Galdri’s airline) and there are actually 2 i believe, not 1 aircraft.
A bit of biase there Easyjet B737 – it the biggest operator here but there are plently of others!
Here are the current LPL listings that I usually see running through here…
EZY – Have 7 B733/7 Aircraft currently based at LPL. This will apparently shortly go up to 8 and according to reliable sources see an A319 routing through from Feb on the Geneva run. 3 of the 7 here at tho moment are B733 G-IGOB, B737 G-EZJW/H – Dont really take much notice any more as I only need a couple of the -300s.
Euromanx currently operate Rossair ATR-42 aircraft through here, with the Beech 1900 appearing every now and again. PH-RAK is the usual but PH-RAQ operated it this evening.
Ryanair operate a 3x daily Dublin service. The first aircraft is usually an Islandsflug B734 (Usually TF-ELD), and the other 2 flights by B732. The airline has recently announced it will be dropping its daily B738 flight to CRL and operate a GRO run with the B738 from Feb.
British Regional currently operate the ATP though here although this will be suspended in March… listern out for details here!
VLM will shortly be arriving to operate a 5x Daily London City service with Fokker 50 aircraft. Apparently rumours are this could rise to 8x daily with a second based aircraft to cover for either LPL or MAN tech difficulties.
Jetmagic currently operate on the Cork run twice daily with E145.
MyTravel have an A320 based here throughout the Summer season, but this only operates from Thurs over the weekend during winter. Current aircraft G-YBLM.
Britannia Airways have a based B752 here in the Summer but operate infrequent charters through the winter.
Atlantic Airlines have a L188 based for a MON-THU TNT freight service to Liege. This aircraft daystops.
TNT operate the above flight on a Friday with a BAe 146-300QT which arrives from EDI and departs to DUB.
Channel express operate 3x Fokker F27 aircraft through here on a weeknight with 2 departures to LGW and 1 to BOH. They also have won the contract to fly LPL-BFS with a B733QC, although this is currently flown by Islandsflug’s TF-ELM pending arrival of their own QC aircraft.
and finally…
Emerald Airways. We operate upto 7 HS-748 aircraft through here on any given evening on Newspaper and mail flights, as well as our scheduled freight services to the Isle of Man. Will shortly be aquiring ATP aircraft, of which 3 will be Passenger configured and used on routes out of Liverpool. It’s not often we now operate the SD-360s through here any more, but we do operate an Antonov AN-26 on lease from RAF-Avia of Latvia registration YL-RAE.
Throughout the week in summer all the usual Spanair/Europa/BH Air/Futura aircraft can be seen, but this again is limited during the winter!
Rumours are also rife about a new MD-82 start up from here utilising ex-SAS machines and being run by former MyTravel management known as A to (or 2) B.com to commence operations shortly. Another one to listern out for!
Hope that just about sums it up for now.
p.s. as not being local the best place for viewing s… The office window! 😀 err… only place i could suggest is the Terminal cafe although apparently you can get to the end of Rwy 27 easily.
Graham,
F-WWEU was operating into LBA for Toulouse in France and is an ex-KHALIFA example (you can still see the outline of the eagle on the tail). We can’t work out if it is on a delivery flight yet or carrying the Toulouse Rugby team. Why not join the LBA2 newsgroup where there is often advanced notice of this type of movement? Will post the details if you would like to join up!
Also TF-ELD along with TF-ELV are operating on several Ryanair routes covering in the main for the withdrawn B732s. TF-ELD has been on the FR152/3 since November (which it does after the LPL rotation) The other aircraft covers mainly the Gatwick run as a rule, but can be seen at other places now and again! Hope that helps
Greekdude – as you posted about the DC-8 its the same situation withg the HS748 and SD360, its just a pole on a hook hat hangs about a foot off the ground and provides a visual aid, as does the nosewheel oleo – i think on these models that is all they are designed for, not to support the a/c if it goes nose up, as i’ve seen a pic of a 748 that has done!
The wheel on the likes of the B763 and other long aircraft is to prevent tailscapes on t/o nothing to do with loading
most cargo aircraft have them at the back during loading of the aircraft – both our HS748 and SD360 aircraft can have them placed in the tail.
when they were is the pre-production stage of the NG series they said this would be happening… still haven’t seen an airccraft without them yet!

If in a year’s time, they close, that will be a bad thing, but for now, I for one am very pleased, as many other locals who now don’t have to travel up or down the A1.
Not a problem Pembo, i just hope baby don’t let done the Teeside locals if they do get the support in the first year.
Personally i think that some of the lo-cos are now jumping into any airport that doesn’t have a lo-co now. Coventry would be an ideal location for the likes of Thomsonfly with location, but there are no facilaties at the moment. Perhaps if Thomsonfly had chose Teeside with a large catchment area and the basic facilities available i might be more optimistic than i currently am. I know Thomson on the holiday side of things haven’t a MME supporter really over the years but they have never had a presence at CVT either. It more the airline than the Airport i am doubting! Best of luck again to MME though!
perhaps the could call their first aircraft “Tees-the-baby”!!!

Preston; you say is BMI Baby expanding at Teesside a good thing or not? How can it not be a good thing? If Baby do go down, or pull out, then it will be bad thing when it happens. But the fact that they are here and giving the local people and business’ a boost is a good thing. Hopefully the situation will last.On a hypothetical note; my biggest fear for MME would be if MYT went down. With only MYT willing to put a based aircraft here through the summer, no MYT flights would have a massive impact for us.
Pembo on paper it has given a huge profile to MME that bmibaby are moving in, but from what i can see and hear a lot of uncertaities lie with the Teeside flights.
At the moment they have cut the proposed basing of aircraft by 50%, now down to one aircraft, and thus they are taking flights from other basis on a trial basis. If bmibaby can aquire more aircraft and operate a more stable programme with more passenger flexability for flights in them then things may start to look a bit better. Take the Belfast route for example. If it remains at 1x daily then the market base isn’t going to be too large for it. 1x daily would restrict buisness passengers into having to stay away from home overnight, and not be able to do a visit in a day trip. Amsterdam, and to a lesser extent Beflast at LBA i hear has a lot of day tripping passenges – whether buisness or leisure, and as you say with Jet2 and Easyjet up the road offering daily flights on the majority of these 2/3/4 x weekly sun runs they will have more flexability and possably better vaqlue fares if flights do fill up. Bmibaby seem to be trying to do a lot of expanding of routes and flights with NO expansion of aircraft. Something somwhere will give, and if its the number of of aircraft that doesn’t increase then i can see the bmibaby base at MME closing down. Just my thoughts and i would like to be worng on it!

Yep, I didnt take it as the full truth just looked like a good rough guide. Obviously with the current expansion at the airport I cant see the flights you mentioned been withdrawn and it seems very strange that MYT would go back to a 320. Didnt know about the JKK MD-83 Thurs flight though who will that be operating for as MyTravel have their normal Fri Mahon flight.
Not sure mate – will look into it…

Finger trouble – should know that as our 748s have never been cat 2!
Just a thought – it is said above somewhere that Titan have B733QCs – i don’t think this is the case- they have 146QCs but i think G-ZAPM is only a pax a/c.
The Bluebird cargo B737-330QC used to fly thought LBA when it was newly delivered on a KEF-LBA-CGN-EMA-KEF route – now the LBA leg routes via EMA. Summer 2000 it was with a Star Airlines OY- registered B727 then 2001 with the Bluebird I think…
13 – the max the CEO wil currently allow i believe
what about…
Monday Bourgas, BH Air, TU154?
Tuesday Palma, AEA, B738?
Tuesday Heraklion, Transavia B738?
Thursday Faro, MYT A320/1?
Thursday, Mahon, Spanair MD83?
Thursday, Malta, Astreus B733?
Friday, Tenerife, Futura B738?
Sunday, Varna, BH Air A320?
Just a few from the first editions of the brochures – it seems that the source on pprune you’ve taken that from doesnt quite have the full picture yet! Wait and see – B752 to A320 doesn seem a slightly strange rumour too – all will be reveiled!
