Christ, what’s happening in the world, bring back the fifties whan we all lived in Pleasantville

Is that the very fifties were people had nothing to nick or the local area was run by the mob so any robber had to get permission from mr kray or richardson and pay a kick back. 😀
Drugs i think are the real reason they even try to get in to our houses, it must be, for any sane person would not take the risk of some one or a dog being home.
Thanks for your sympathy flag officer ,he must have subdued him as a garden spade was found in the bedroom, but bless him when he came around he took the fight back to him on the landing ,before the cu de gra.
I remember a story that a friend related to me,
A chap returned home early from a night shift ,to find a burglar helping him self to his valuables. To cut a long story short he spent several hours alone with the offender and undercover of darkness, he deposited the now very bruised man over a small hedge ,several streets away. The police were called as the owner of the hedge recognised him.he was charged with assault and said he would do it all again, nice.

We were burgled several years ago, they gained entry by kicking in the back door, funnily enough we lived in a cul-de-sac at the time and had the worlds nosiest neighbour, but nothing was seen.We had nipped out to my mums for about an hour, when we returned i noticed the bedroom lights on,we then rounded the corner to see the back door off its hinges.I told the wife to stay at the door as she had our two year old son at the time in her arms,i grabbed the kitchen knife and slowly entered the house.I quickly whistled the dog who was left in the house while we went out,he diddent come, my heart sank.It was then i made a conscious decision to use the knife on any one trying to pass me as my wife and son were at the door.I cleared the ground floor and started to make my way up the stairs it was there i found the dog he had tried to crawl up the stair, but took a second hit on the steps,it looked like he gave as good as he got during the fight, as the blood on the walls was pretty high up.
That night i buried an old friend in the garden and prayed for revenge.
I got it in the form of a phone call months later, while a DC was running a smack head around local streets collecting TICKS”taken in to consideration “he pointed out our house. The DC couldn’t give me his name, as a visit would have been the order of the day,but hinted at a court date in a later phone call,i went to court and watched quietly from the public box.His name appeared in the local press last year, over dosed in a public loo, he left a girlfriend and a baby son.
I feel nothing for him,but sorrow for his son.

I find it warming that so many of us took time in recognising what our ancestors did for their countries.I wonderd if it was possible to apply for their respective campaign medals ,as i know all of my relatives apart from grt grandad didn’t send for theirs. He only got his due to it being a big gong and family rumor has it, had to be forced to receive it.A proud man who hated war and all its futility, i have a photo of him on his liberation after hostilities from a pow camp, all of his fingers were bandaged i asked my nanna why,she said they asked him his name ,he told them to ” F off” ten times.

The arming of our police force could only provoke criminals in to shooting officers on site believing them selves at risk.Armed response teams are always on patrol so possibly increasing those would be a help, but in my eyes bring in stiffer sentences for police murder, life means life, not ten years if your a good boy.In the criminal fraternity the death of an officer only spells trouble ,as all are pulled in to help with enquiries, so the perpetrators are disowned by their own type.
