Kanwa basically gets its news from the Chinese language boards or from Russian suppliers. You might have noticed that many of the FC-1 picts have “Pinkov can’t use in Chinese” written on them 🙂
Anyways, I haven’t heard of any problems on the boards. But Kanwa might have heard it from the Russians.
Or, more likely, he is giving his opinions on what he sees are the problems in the J-10A’s design (whatever the J-10A is.)

GoldenDragonFork, the second picture is just a 3D model I built. It has nothing to do with Atlas. I should have made it clearer.
The top picture is the official model commissioned by Atlas (South African, makes the Cheetah too).
I didn’t even have line drawings so I basically eyeballed top picture which is the only photo I can across in making the model that appears in the second picture. Don’t depend on it for accuracy.

There are many, many examples in the world. There is absolutely no reason to bring in ones that lead to flames.
You should understand that by now, unless your perspective is constricted by the Indian-Pakistani box. In most Chinese language forums (where Indian members can’t flame) you could go months on end without a single mention of the country or their new plane.
The PLA (as the parent org of the PLAAF) doesn’t even assign major airbases next to India.
So be true to your name and act accordingly, my friend 🙂

There is no reason to disbelieve the Pakistani reports. Though, there is yet to be official confirmation from the Chinese side.
But again, the citing of the “1,000” figure is important. There is no way that 1,000 figure could be reached without a significant Chinese buy. Not only would that contribute to the total but it would open the way for other large orders. Without China buying, countries will be far more reluctant.
Again, 1) the 2006 date for limited series production (2007 for full production), 2) the continuously linking of “stealth” which is now repeated in foreign newspaper and 3) the large projected sales figure all contribute to the sales pictch and all three has to be met or it turns into bad advertisement.

Without a Chinese order, the numbers simply aren’t there. The FC-1 project leader knows those numbers too. Like any firm, they’d have done market studies. For someone high up at CAC to say “1,000” means they’re expecting major orders.
One large order is already set and that’s from Pakistan. There is no other major one at this point except for China.
But if China takes, then there would be more orders from other markets. If China doesn’t take any, then the other markets would be far harder to open.
Chinese officials aren’t very open about future projects because they are risk adversed. It’s the culture of bureaucrats. No one says anything voluntarily that someone could point at him later and say he’s wrong.

3. large orders – “1000”; China has better take a large number because you are promising people that it is good enough to sell in large amounts and will be made in large amounts (this, of course, is to assure potential buyers that the project is viable.)
So they are being just very confident of the above three or overconfident? 😀
