The Soviets have had rocket propelled torpedos since the 50s… the RAT-52 was one of their first in service.
And for those who state it can’t be guided… have obviously not heard of wire guidance for torpedos.
I actually said that sonar guidance by the torpedo is impossible. Semantics aside, you can probably wire guide it like a TOW missile, I suppose, with line of sight. Every other weapon would come into range including the phalanx by the time it can be directed by sight.
As for wire guidance from ship or sub, the target signature would be masked by the cone of noise coming from your super cavitating rocket torpedo headed in the same direction so targeting can’t be passive. You have to openly ping your target to use any wire guidance. It’s a straight line weapon on a close target.

I won’t give it much credit. This is an old picture of the J-10 that has been rehashed, resized, reangled and rebackgrounded to look new, but it really is not.
Given the flight patterns, the canard and aileron deflection angles are all wrong, because they are in take off position. Which is what the original old picture was.

Actually, far more than the F-22 were said to have supercruise. The Lightning was one of them and so was the F-4 when flying clean in the Israeli Kurnass upgrade. The EF and the Rafale are supposed to supercruise.
The Concorde, of course, supercruised. It didn’t cross the Atlantic in afterburners.
The key is the efficiency of the engines at high speeds. Very hard problem to solve because jet engines tend towards inefficiency at high speeds. With turbofans, the higher the bypass (for efficiency) the less speed. Transport planes have very high bypass ratios but far more efficiency.
But obviously, the L-15 would be very unlikely to supercruise.
Does this mean that it can supercruise?
That depends on the optimal speed of the airframe and the most efficient consumption setting of the engines. If the thrust generated by the two engines at top efficiency is greater than the optimal speed of the airframe then the aircraft can supercruise.
The L-15 is a trainer and the planform is designed for stability and lift rather than speed so it is very unlikely it can supercruise.
That was also my idea …. I think its probable more a recent than an earlier picture ! It reminds to some pictures posted in a German forum from Manching, where the German Eurofighter is produced and You can see the newly produced aircraft making their “individual” first flights !

Very true. These are almost certainly production machines. Multiple prototypes always have have a time lag between them so that no more than one of them should be unpainted.
Here we have two J-10s queued up on the runway and a third on the apron, all in primer.
The only question is whether these belong to an initial (or limited) production series or the first large production series.
Great pictures on the L-15! Also a good post on the two-seater J-10B. I have the original fuzzy version of that picture. I’ve been waiting for a clearer copy.

Actually pretty impressive. We could see it’s rocket operated like the Skval from the launch scene in the video. The principle is the same though it might not be the same missile.
The cavitation and speed of such a weapon makes sonar guidance pretty much impossible. A straight line weapon.

A 23-year-old pilot says she hopes to do her late father proud by flying, a profession in which he lost his life.
Selai Samui, of Totoya in Lau is the daughter of Naca Samui, a pilot who died in a fatal air crash when an Air Fiji PC121 flight crashed in the interior of Viti Levu in July 1999. Selai who has been flying for three years with Air Fiji said she did not let the tragedy keep her from what she does best.
“Its never unnerving but it makes me realise that these things do happen, you have to try your best to rise to the challenges, you can’t always let fear get in the way.”
Selai said she was four-years-old when she first got into an airplane and since childhood knew that she wanted to be a pilot.
“My Dad was doing his pilot training then and we used to fly to Malolo. I felt that flying was what I wanted to do and that’s just been it since then.”
Selai said she encouraged anyone interested in flying to take up the challenge, as it was not impossibly hard. Selai returned from China last week after a seven-day trip with stops at 10 different airports. She was the youngest of a four pilot team which brought in two new Air Fiji aircraft from Harbin China.
“I feel very blessed that being a domestic pilot I got a chance to do this and an opportunity to see the world in a little humble turbo prop.”
