Hmmm……wonder what these gents are checking………
Nice detailed picture, Hyperwarp. First time we could see the variable inlet.
Only LOSERs worry about others’ possessions.
Well, jealous people do too 😀
David Lari said China recieved aircraft technology from China and he said some Israeli companies MIGHT have dirty hands.
Then where are culprits? Why aren’t they hung out to dry by the US?
Remember the Rosenbergs? They sold nukes to the USSR and betrayed the US. They were executed. The ones who supposed sold the Lavi to China are not even slapped on the wrist?
Backstabbing your greatest ally and protector is a non-punishable offense? I think not. Unless the US is a patsy. But if it is a patsy then why would it bother blocking Phalcon and the Harpy upgrade, why not just let Israel make money there too?
He was an Israeli high official in fact he was a director of the Israeli defence ministry.
You took one person from an article that was referring to yet ANOTHER article by AP where that person is not even quoted as saying the “J-10” or “Lavi.”
You are basing your whole argument on a person who couldn’t even be proved to have mentioned Lavi and China in one sentence at all. If you could find Lari saying “Lavi was sent to China” then post it.
Otherwise, the facts stand and those facts are:
1) Israel denies it,
2) Israel cannot gain anything from China that would offset losing American aid and protection,
3) the Lavi couldn’t even be made by Israel when it was deprived of American parts then it certainly couldn’t be made in China certainly without American input.
Occam’s Razor, my friend.
Growing up and being responsible is not same as believing the Chinese official propoganda machine.
😀 Basically the whole argument of the J-10 is Lavi side comes down to this. You’re Chinese so the Lavi must be the basis of the J-10. Never mind that the Lavi is a failed project and Israel had never designed and produced a successful homegrown fighter on its own (the Kfir ripoff of the Mirage being the Israelis’ ultimate achievement.)
This particular reply is pretty indicative of a complete lack of knowledge fueling statements of sour grapes and jealousy
Does this person know that the J-10 is never mentioned by the Chinese propaganda machine at all? (Unlike the irrelevant project from his country.)
Israel is out to betray the US and weaken the American position
Israel would stupidly continue to deny the Lavi/J-10 connection in spite of irrefutably US intelligence evidence
US intelligence is too stupid to make this irrefutable evidence public and force Israel to admit
All evidence is hidden so we can have a handy conspiracy theory as proof
“It does not matter ..” shows, your are not intrested in other opinions really.
That’s the difference. You give nothing but opinions.
I put forth facts. All three Lavis are in Israel. The J-10 is in China. Israel denies any involvement. These are facts not opinions.
China is an interesting place for aviation enthusiasts
It is an interesting place for ACTUAL enthusiasts (like Arthur and Rick) who really put the time in to study the subject. For people like you, it is just an excuse to say so and so is a “nationalist.” 😀
If you have any respect for the evidence (and not your prejudices) then look at the Israeli denial, where the Lavi is today and where the J-10 is today.
This is a simple example of Occam’s razor. Lavi is in Israel, J-10 is in China and the Israeli government denies any involvement in the J-10. What could be more plain than that?
We get a first hand view of all successes and failures/obstacles related to that.
You mean WE (those who are truly interested in the field) get a first-hand look. The J-10 is still unofficial. All the pictures come from the Chinese forums, not US intelligence nor western publication. All the relevant pieces of information comes from non-official Chinese sites along with those from Russian firms Salyut and Sukhoi. There is absolutely nothing on the J-10 from Israel except for denials.
You confused the Newsmax “source code” story for a Chinese announcement because you have absolutely no knowledge of the Chinese avenues of information. You continue to confuse news with your pre-set stereotypes of China.
Remember Occam, please. A convoluted conspiracy theory that Israel is stupidly treacherous to the point of being suicidal in betraying its American protector doesn’t pass his Razor.
If we had to solve a real dispute between persons, I would agree.
You would agree if we were both European. You would not agree only because the J-10 is Chinese.
Because it is Chinese, you ignore basic evidence and assume yourself to be an “expert” who can know more than the Israeli government 😀
I give-in I do not know very much about Chinese mentality.
It doesn’t matter if you know chinese mentality. That’s unimportant.
What does matter is that you know nothing of Chinese development nor do know the avenues of collecting Chinese information. Basically you have no information that is not Westernized conjecture or interpretation.
There are those westerners here who do know how to collect Chinese information and who do know the history of Chinese aviation development. You’re not one of those.
You are debating without any real information but at the same time you refuse to believe the Israeli goverment. You refuse to believe the obvious that the J-10 is in production China not Israel.
“Write or wrong, my country”, is not my motto.
Your motto is more like “Right or wrong, my stereotypes of the Chinese.” 😀
I am defending the evidence, not a country. The evidence begins with the Israeli denial, the dependence of Israel on the US and the dependence of the Lavi on American technology. Everything mitigates against the Lavi as the J-10.
You are defending your stereotypes of China with nothing but conspiracy theories.
The J-10 must be Israeli to you even though the Israelis categorically denies it, that’s a pretty stupid way to argue. Don’t let prejudice get in the way of evidence 😀
Not to name a single “expert” here.
That’s correct. No one’s an expert so you should take the truth from the official sources like Israeli government. Israel had made it clear that is no connection between the Lavi and the J-10. Only those pretending to be “experts” is trying see something different than the obvious.
The J-10 is flying in China, not Israel and the Israeli government is denying any involvement. What makes you such an “expert” that you can deny those two facts? 😀
Last year I red the proud Chinese anouncement, that a sientific Chinese institute had managed to deciver the source-code of the radar, which allows China own modifications to that in the future.
There was never such a Chinese announcement on deciphering the source-code of the radar. It was a Newsmax writeup. Why the hell would China publicize this? Go find me the official Chinese announcement and it better not be a western publication.
Sens, you repeatedly confuse Western guesswork with Chinese “announcements” because of your complete lack of knowledge about China.
Seriously, if you’re not an expert and I’m not an expert, we should both accept the obvious: the J-10 is in China and the Israeli government denied any transfer of the Lavi. It’s that simple.
So stop trying to pretend you’re an expert who knows more than the Israeli government.
There are stories of a mock dogfight between an Su-27 and an F-15 out over the Atlantic when FLANKERs were visiting Langley. Suffice it to say that the FLANKER did not go away the loser. And as for the airshow demos, Sukhoi countered some of the claims that “the FLANKER can turn, but it’ll never do that at combat weight” by puttign a fully loaded Su-30MK #603 through the standard FLANKER display routine with a full load of weapons (and maybe fuel, but I’m not sure about that-either way combat rarely takes place at MTOW anyway).
Erh, Soc, you know that Langley Flanker story is one of the most pooh-poohed non-events in the USAF’s F-15 community 😀

SU-27 v F-15 DACT urban legends
Tue May 21 16:32:21 2002
198.26.123.37Okay, I can’t stand it anymore. Twice in the last month there have been threads here talking about Flankers fighting Eagles in Summer ’92 and having their lunch. After this last time I decided to check on it. I was surprised, first of all, that I had never heard about this before. I flew Eagles in the 94FS at Langley, which was the squadron that went to Russia then hosted them when they visited the U.S.
With my usual impeccable sense of timing I managed to leave the squadron shortly before all this happened, but I still personally knew and and had flown with 90% of the pilots assigned to the squadron at the time and 100% of the pilots that flew in these exchange visits.
Somehow in the 10 years that have passed they had failed to mention to me in numerous conversations about this very subject that any DACT occurred, I don’t think so!
In addition to still flying for the Air Force Reserve I work as an F-15 sim instructor at Langley; which means I’m current on the latest F-15 progams and performance, surely there would be some record (classified or unclassified) of this apochryphal event and the lessons learned if the Eagle had been beaten so badly.
There isn’t, period dot
Rather than relying on all this hearsay I contacted three pilots that I was stationed with at Langley, and who flew in Flanker backseats, gave Russian pilots Eagle rides and flew Eagles in formation with the SU-27’s and are still flying the F-15. I passed on the Air Forces Monthly “story” as quoted, and after they had stopped laughing hysterically the bottom line they told me was this: the amount of DACT that took place between Eagles and Flankers in Summer 1992 was…NONE, nada, zip, zero, nyet, a big doughnut.
DACT was not just frowned upon or discouraged; it was forbidden, mainly for two reasons. Nobody wanted the political heat/fallout that would result if one of the jets went out of control and crashed or, worse, if they had a mid-air in the hard maneuvering that DACT implies. Second, despite recent warm feelings toward the Russians nobody was going to allow anything remotely classified to be passed on, so the F-15’s were flown radar, TEWS, PACS panel, ICS off. When all your weapons systems are turned off it becomes pointless to fly DACT, unless you’re planning to recreate WWI, WWII, and Korea by fighting guns only.
In which case give me an A-10 that can turn up it’s own ass and has a big gun.
What actually did occur (and probably the loose basis for this “dramatic story”) was that, in addition to single ship backseat rides the F-15’s and SU-27’s went out and flew tactical formation with each other (line abreast 1 to 2 miles apart with 2000 to 3000 feet vertical spacing). During 90 degree turns in this formation one aircraft turns first and passes 3000 to 4000 feet through the 6 ‘o clock of the second jet to go, at which point that second jet starts its turn in order to roll out line abreast but with both jets pointed 90 degrees off the formation’s original heading.
During one of these turns the Flanker, rather than continuing to the expected heading, stopped at the Eagles dead six for 3000 feet. After several seconds of wondering what the Hell the SU-27 pilot was doing the F-15 pilot spent 20 seconds trying to shake him and was unable, and then stopped, which proves? Basically nothing.
In the fighter community nobody starts 3000 foot perch setups at the defender’s dead six, because staying behind somebody after that kind of start is on a par with clubbing baby seals in its level of difficulty. Instead the offender actually moves to the defender’s 4 or 8 ‘o clock for 3000 feet before starting the fight. Even then in this more difficult setup the offender still stays in an offensive position 95% of the time. The 5% he doesn’t is usually a result of him grossly porking up his BFM. It should be emphasized this was a single event, unplanned, unexpected, and half-heartedly done and not some series of “mock dogfights.”
As Paul Harvey says “that’s the rest of the story” straight from participants in the event not some second, third, or fourth hand magazine article or internet rumor which just repeats what somebody else wrote. In the future if you want to argue the merits of the two aircraft please spare us the repetition of this non-event as proof and stick to comparing them based on their airframe/weapons performance as published.
Regards,
Murph
the airframe? no of course not; yeah so the J-10 resembles the IAI Arava  , no the airframe not possible why?
Because Israel denied that the Lavi was passed to China you think its the Arava (which is less popular around the world than the Y-11/12)? Are you well? 😀
Look, it still comes down this:
There is:
1) an official Israeli denial,
2) the lack of any substantial gain for Israel from China,
3) the obvious failure of the Lavi,
and 4) the Lavi’s American technology can’t be sold without severe repercussions for the Israeli state.
Now why would Israel sell China an aircraft founded by Americans that it could never put into production and THEN deny it? 😀
Not even mentioning that to do so would be suicidal because Israel survives solely on US aid.
Try replying to logic with some logic, please.
This P-3 Orion was supposedly shot from a Y-8.
PS: Still no idea on this????
It’s about an scientist (a woman?) involved in developing engines for Chinese third-gen (FC-1, J-10) aircraft.
I think there’s two groups of people in here. One group thinks that the J-10 was a direct derivative of the Lavi design. Personally, I side with group two, which believes that the J-10 was developed with the assistance of Lavi engineers. The J-10 is obviously not a direct copy. Then again, it is rumored that a J-10 design first flew in like 1996 and crashed, leading to a redesign. Maybe that original platform, if it did in fact exist, bore more of a resemblance to the Lavi?
There is also a third group.
A third that believes that J-10 could have foreign influence but certainly not from a country that officially denies it and which has no history of designing a proper aircraft outside of ripping off the Mirage. Both facts weigh heavily against the Lavi.
If the US intelligence community has any solid proof, Israel would be forced to its eat its lies. It would be the biggest betrayal of the United States since the Rosenbergs sold the nuclear bomb to the USSR. (BTW, the Rosenbergs were executed for their treachery. Unlike Flogger’s stupid comment, treachery and betrayal is not “just politics.”)
Now it is possible that Israel sold American technology like radar and engine which is what China needed, not some paper blueprints like the Lavi.
We know the engine isn’t Israeli. But radar is possible. But an American radar is not the “Lavi” which could not be more than instructions on how to put American parts together. If it were more than that then Israel would have built the Lavi in numbers like China had built the JH-7.
Not really, mostly only Chinese claim the J-10 is Chinese
The Chinese need to “claim” J-10 is Chinese? What other nationality “claims” it? 😀
Is it a racial thing with you that the J-10 MUST be Israeli? You were banned from CDF for using nothing but racial stereotypes, Flogger. You’re repeating those here.
So your only point in this whole argument is to claim that the J-10 is not Chinese? Not to even discuss the pros and cons of either side?
Again, you have not prove (or even seriously attempted to prove):
1) the conspiracy that the Israeli denial is a lie,
2) reasonable gain for Israelis (unless you think Israelis would betray and backstab their American protector for greed of money alone – an disgusting thought usually ascribed to Jews by anti-semites,)
3) why China is able to put into service a plane from a failed project
that Israel could not place into production series without US help and
4) how Israel could sell stolen American technology (which is what the Lavi was – an aggregate of American tech and parts.)
Your pathetic attempt to answer number 1) was to put up a sentence where Lari was not even quoted saying “Lavi” or “J-10”
If one is talking about captured aircraft . . . 😀
The infamous Zero with the US roundel:
Another article, according to this one, the prototype with the “complete avionics package” is due by the end of the year. This project has kept pretty much on schedule so far.
http://www.geo.tv/main_files/pakistan.aspx?id=76009
Production of JF-17 aircraft from March 2007
ISLAMABAD: The series production of JF-17 (Thunder) aircraft, being manufactured by Pakistan and China would start from March 2007.
“The series production work at PAC Kamra is planned to start in March 2007,” said Chief Project Director at JF-17 Project Air Vice Marshal Shahid Lateef in a briefing to Media-persons who visited Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra on Monday.
He said the annual production of the aircraft would be adjusted to clear for timely replacement of old aircraft retiring from the Pakistan Air Force inventory.
Answering a question, he said, Pakistan needs to have around 150 aircraft while the co-partner in the project China would require around 250 fighter aircraft.
He said the Prototype 4 is being manufactured and is likely to be completed by the end of the year. This aircraft is designed to house the complete avionics package.
The fifth Prototype would again be a ground testing model used for fatigue testing to determine the operational life of the aircraft, he said adding, this prototype would be manufactured after qualification of fourth one.
