In another news,
looks like series production run for J-10B is well underway.
how many can you count and that big UAV is there too in the hangar if you can spot it.
Are You sure that these are “B” models ??? … at least the yelow ones are “A” IMO. 🙁
Anyway I would like to know where are all these J-10’s will go to.
Here’s another photo from CAC’s flightline.

… a naval PAKFA. ….
Sorry, but is that realistic ??? … especially in terms of cost !
What kind of nonsense is this? I won’t be replying to JSR anymore.
Like I said … he’s just arguing by “guesswork” or by the look at it … and even more by “by SMT with it’s huuuuge spine” is simply the best.
The funny thing is that his estimations were simply not shared by the AF’s, which decide to these aircraft and he even more ignores, when were they developed, for what purpose and most of all under what circumstances.
MiG-29 as a light frontal aviation fighter (and not even as a multirole type at first … developed by a very developed aviation industry … finally modivied into the SMT because of lack of range by the original design. The later MiG-29M I will simply leave out since they new birds.
The JH-7 as a heavy striker for long range missions … developed by as the first succesful design by a not very developed aviation industry … at a completely different design.
It would be like comparing the A.380 with the EF Typhoon. And even if he’s correct that currently the trend is to multirole types – plese tell that the RuAF ! with its few SMT – both are not really modern types in this sense since they were developed at a different time.

u are saying 4 missile in each bay? no f-22 carry only three AMMRAM in each bay.but i am surprised why pak fa can carry only 2 in each bay.i thought it will carry 3
NO, not the missiles in each bay but the number of drop-tanks “was actually supposed to be 4 but was later reduced to 2 for reasons I don’t remember.” 😉
JH-7 has B747 size turn radius . so alot of fuel will be lost wasted just going from point A to Point B.
Source please … and no guesswork or “I think” … otherwise please no posts anymore !
there is no wing area to speak off. there is no place of carrying any stores.
You dont built bomber with such small wing. 1.7 ton extra weight due to engines further decrease its operational range. There is no spine to carry fuel. no large tails. There is BVR missile on third weopon stations. So MIG-29SMT can carry
2X R77, 4X Standoff missiles, Center line tank and with full spine fuel with much better turn radius, acceleration, climb rate. Every thing that counts of going in and out of battlfield.
blablabla … may I aks what’s Your job, what’s Your background to be so sure that ?? Are You an engineer or aircraft designer … or a schoolboy playing “Go Fish” ?
Deino
Those Spey engines are so heavy with slow acceleration that there efficiency is moot point.
I believe on pix more than paper specification. This MIG is carrying more than 5 tons of fuel with 6 wing station still left. MIG-35 has 11. so the fundamental of MIG design is more sound than JH-7 for strike.
Dear “JSR” … please don’t get me wrong, but to admit it’s more than anoying to listen over and over again the same phsase “my SMT” is better, has a greater range, can carry more … and finally “I believe on pix more than paper specification”. 😮
Do You really think with this kind of discussion anyone here will take You serious ??
You choose those date which simply fit Your opinion, if they don’t You say they are only “paper specs” and surely faked … You trust Your eye more than what’s posted by well respected members, which were listening, researching, posting and most of all learning since years from others post even if we not always have the same opinion !?
Honestly if You don’t change Your altitude I would suggest to post this “nonsense” maybe at other forums (http://www.network54.com/Forum/211833/) ….
Cheers and have a nice day,
Deino
I think we should finally simply agree with him that the SMT is a fine aircraft, actually the BEST, it has a spine – huhu whoauu – and huuuuge tanks, it can carry four ASM/AGM or so and it therefore surely has a range much greater than anything from CHina … it is better, believe me much better than the JH-7 … AMEM !
I talked with Mel Williams some days ago and he told me tha he was trying to resume the release of the magazine after having personal problems for more than two years. His plans are to release Volume 28 ASAP.
Best regards
Santiago
That’s nice to hear … but honestly I spoke to Mel also a few weeks ago and he promised a lot (again since years) … .
The problem is surely not only what happened in mind of his personnel situation, but after all these years and repeated promises with only few results I think it’s quite understandable that – sadly since I think it is a more than tragic loos for that scene – some readers and even authors lose their faith to see Vol. 28 ASAP. 🙁
Regarding this ASAP I’ve heard at the Frankfurt book fair he hopes to get Vol. 28 ready by December.

….
Ohh come one ! …how stupid can one be !?
If You compare the old MiG-23 with the F-22 in terms of climb rate, … the Flogger is a real sitting duck ! … but did You take a look when both were developed and for what role ?? Again comparing apples with bananas just to feel better.
Yes the JH-7 is not comparable to the Fencer, simply since it was never to be … and even more to the latest MiG-29K. It was developed as China’s first dedicated long range straiker for a role similar to the F-111/Su-24/Tornado, YES, with a dated and underrated powerplant but anyway it was the best the CHinese Aviation Industry had avialable when it was under development (and not yet). It was to provide an aircraft with a better range, weapons load and overall performance to the Q-5 … and now after surely a protracted development phase with the latests avionics it’s surely worth these efforts for the PLAAF/PLANAF….. and please leave these stupid comparisons to aircrfat of different generations and developed for different roles.
Deino:mad:
…
uh did you just miss that picture i posted? in case you’re that blind..
Why do I once again have that strange feeling to be in a fight Russia vs. China … and who has the longer one !?? 😡
Besides that I think he simply meant the JH-7 can’t carry more than 4 ASM/PGM … and that’s correct !
At least I haven’t seen any photo of a JH-7 with more than four. To admit I think I have never seen one on the centreline pylon.
The problem however – and as such again as senseless as comparing bananas with apples – is, that we don’t have official range/payload/flight-profile data for the JH-7, it is a completely diffetent class & type of aircraft to the MiG-29 … and one has to remember what background the F-4 had and the JH-7 when it was under development and finally entered service.
Deino
Deino not sure if its just my computer, but nothing is appearing in your post.
Sorry … the link is dead now and I didn’t save the photo (a nice shot of the Libyan An-124-100); Sorry.
Interesting photo of a re-engined J-11A with the TH … taken on the same airshow, where the JH-7A crashed.
As such it seems that – even if the PLAAF just ordered 150 additional AL-31F ro replace older engines – the J-11 could be reengined with the TH (if Shenyang Liming could produce enough of them).
Deino
Not sure if already posted !

Deino
This is not a rumor, a JH7 fighter bomber lost during air show. Luckly, the pilots ejected Just In Time.
…
And here’s the video … I hope the WSO was not on bord since there’s only one ejection ! 🙁

Isn’t it simply the one on top slightly larger and simply turned 90° to the right ??
Anyway my most favourite photo so far.
